Yeah I have seen them and I agree with you on the power thing shot placement is the key for anyone who wants to be human in the kill of any animal I witnessed a chick take 2 pigs down with a.22 both were single kill shots and I would rate pigs as probably the toughest animal to take down before I really start targeting rabbits etc with a Springer I will be getting my technique set and the springer run in properly to make sure I am not going to miss the kill shot and only wound don't get me wrong I have done many culls of rabbit before but that was always with a shotty so there was never any wounded rabbits the either died straight away or I have to admit the odd miss but I blame the guy driving the ute rather than me missing lol

Your going to get wounding shots.
With such light projectiles and slow speeds it doesnt take much to move that pellet be it trigger pull, wind picks up, animal starts to move. You dont have impact for shock to play a vital role if the poi is affected. Though having said that its more of exception if you know your gun.
Look at ways of having a second pellet on hand, be it a stick on pellet holder,an easy accessable pocket with a couple of loose pellets. I use a bit of camp sleeping mat cut to fit the tin and melt holes in it with a soldiering iron. About 10 to 15 pellets for the reload tin so i can leave the lid off in my pocket and just reach in and pull one out. seems to hold them in fine. Then a larger tin multi layered, done the same but closer together to refill the reload tin.
Stops pellets being damaged and there is no sound of pellets moving. Carry about hundred pellets this way.
Practice reloading on the move as well. I can cover 30m while reloading a break barrel, less with the under lever as have to stop to get pellet in.
It gets you on in a better position for follow up shot if critter is down but not dead, or if its moving keeps you on it.
It needs to be practiced though or you'll damage the pellet trying to get it in.

This single layer, standerd h&n tin. It will take 2 layers. The deeper 500 tins will take 3 layers.
The cut out is for getting your finger in as they are pain to get out otherwise.

That's a good idea I'll do that and I will practice what you have suggested that's why I got the mag fire for a start thought it would be good being "semi auto" but the mag was crap I broke 2 of them and it was not as easy as just a straight re cocking of the springer either it didn't always load the pallet properly as the obvious cheap plastic construction of the mag didn't behave the same way twice sometimes it would not put the pallet in properly and I had a few pallet half load and get squashed when I closed the barrel having a single shot springer is I guess similar to a bolt action rifle over a semi auto I could use my bolt action rifles on the move and without it leaving my shoulder position and was only a fraction slower than a semi auto

I had a gamo with a ten shot mag and it was damaging the pellets.
Took it off.
Think its a lot to do with barrel movement too.
If your breaking a barrel and shutting it all the time vibration is going to be affecting it at some stage. Pcp is much better set up for mag.

I totally agree it was really lack of experience on my behalf that lead me to trying a mag first rather than a single shot it does surprise me quite a bit just how different springers are to powder guns but the more I reasuch ask questions and study up on how to get the best results from a Springer and practice the better the results I will achieve that is why I joined this page was to learn off others that are more experience than I am
