been surfing all the nz shooting forums on line and face book for last few weeks just to see what the reaction is to these laws, have to admit am bit surprised at the surprisinly little discussion on some forums bout this issuse, which amounts to the confiscation of just bout all rifles that are not bolt action in centerfires, even the pig hunters favourite lever actions using 44/357.etc pistol cartridges will be gone as will any rifle it seems bigger than 30/06,even your dads old pump action tube maged 22lr rifle will be gone if what the government is proposing comes about, yet virtual silence from gun owners and hunters!!personly it wont afect me with the firearms i own these days, but that is not the point,as it concerns me for many other reasons as well as my being able to own other types of guns if so choose to in future.am absolutly disgusted in the NATs for rolling over to get a nice PC tummy rub for purely PC reasons not wanting i am sure to look as if they didnt care to voters or in overseas news etc in the wake of what happened in christchurch wich we think is horriffic i am sure, the labour mob used the emotions of the time to implment a long held labour policy on firearms with the full conivence of nz police some of whom allso have long wanted the same result, antone who believes this isnt the case needs get their head outa their arses and wipe the sh*t from their eyes,nz police allready had practice run at making this work by banning bassiaclly all private imports or most airguns, and making it bloody hard for dealers to do same, been more reaction from farmers than shooters over these issuses, facts are that shooters/gun owners and hunters in this country cant and never have been able to get their collective sh*t together and dont really care bout others as long as it didnt affect them personally, well now it does matter to all those who once didnt care coz you all guna lose your prized guns too mates, now you will care eh!!dont think for one minute they wont be coming after airguns either, coz allready started doing that some time ago eh,cheers mike

There has been a lot of confusion, emotion and anger over new firearm laws and some forums had to put the brakes on some of the content that was being vented. Colfo's facebook page has up to date postings on whats going on, along with helpfull info and support. If you cherish your sports future,it needs all the support it can muster at the moment.Get involved.

i i keep up with wots going on,but dont like our chances too much in getting any sane concessions from this mob as they got nz police, the media on their side spreading lies and half truths, and lot the public are now parnoid bout guns and dont understand or want understand wots really behind this,nz gun owners allways had a history of being an appathic disorganised bunch as well, with many clubs and shooting groups really only interested in keeping their own little bit the sport protected so havnt really cared wot happens to other sectors of the sport, and unless this atitude changes the new laws will become a done deal for sure, wether the government can actually pull it off as they believe they can,is another matter, personally i think they wont and many will simplily not comply, time will tell i guess, facts are if gun owners by and large dont comply, there is very little they can actually do bout that in practical terms, fact is government and nz police are relying on threats to make gun owners comply, rather than working with them and doing in such a way they will comply, the whole process been emotionally based and they have played on that to their advantage fully, they lied right from start bout wot they intended and went ahead and have banned most repeating sporting rifles as well, banning lever action carbines and any gun using pistol ammo is quite plainly bloody ridiculous,as is banning all 22 rimfire rifles with evean tube mags that hold more than 10 rounds when they know very well most hold 15 rounds, bassically they have banned based on mag capacity alone a types of rifles that have been used in this counrty for over 100 years, effectivly removing a large segment of popular sporting rifles under the same pretext as a cat MSA rifles, simplily coz they can,as to why begs an honest answer, which we are never going to get from this mob and nz police, thats for sure!!
facts are the UK has some the toughest gun laws in the world, they havnt stopped/prevented gun crime,in fact its got worse, the laws this mob wants bring in are far tougher than the UK laws and wont work any better either,it is a blatent lie for police and government to say other wise, but truth has been very thin on the ground here from police and government on this issuse, infact the whole process has been based on lies and political motives,as to how well this will work out for nz police and government is very much dependant on wether most gun owners roll over play dead and comply,if a large nunmber dont or wont they going to have issuses eh!!
 cheers mike

am little surprised by lack of comments on this issuse as dos affect airgunners as well and its not all just about gun laws, its allso about the state of politics in this country,we only need to look at how these laws got thru parliment without one word from the Nat oppostion, they just rolled over and played dead and allowed it to happen, too afraid to risk political fallout on media to for purely their own political reasons, not wanting to appear as if they didnt care in media, judith collins supports tough gun laws, allways has, simion bridges just came out on thursday on talk back radio and breakfast tv saying same thing, and boasting he was proud to be part of nz being one the first western countrys go gun free,we now know bridges wants to ban all guns, yet none the media or gun forums picked up on this statement of intend by the leader of the NAT party,so we can now assume with some certainty all partys in government are now working together on total gun ban eventually, and we can include winnies on same side as he has allready stated so many times, this being the case, dont expect any real resistance or any will on NATS part to bring some sanity into the debate, coz that aint going to happen now, they have all come out of hiding and shown their true colours on the gun issuse now, obviously they have done the numbers for voters and are going to totally ignore rural people and farmers who have allways been their biggest voter base, they may doso at their political peril.
If airgun users believe they wont be coming after them next, they are very mistaken as they have allready started on airguns by banning the importation of many airguns simplily because nz police dont like the look of them,nz police have just started large purchases of M4 carbines and Glock handguns,as well as new bullet proof vests to replace the stab proof vests, this is a paranoid police force in the process of fully arming them selves agaisnt the public they are meant to protect.
the real facts are that what happened in christchurch was preventable if nz security services and nz police had done their jobs properly, neither agency didso,nz police incompetence and failing to follow the law and proper procedure in issusing a firearms licence, played a very significant role in what happened,in truth blame for it lays entirely on nz police,we will never know the true facts as the enquiry is in secret,to protect the guilty for sure, and obsolve the guilty from any blame or responsiblity this bein the case the blame and responsiblity is being shifted away from government and its guilty agents.this will without be a coverup.
NAT leader sinion bridges made statement to media on thursday part of which said he was proud to be part of making this country one first in world to be gun free as we allready know judith collins stance on this being very anti gun, seems Nats are now fully backing labour government on new gun laws, the guts of which apparently eventually a total gun ban in nz,yet stangly enough the media nor very few others have picked up on bridges statement and certainly havnt reported it,Winni is definatly now very anti gun and has said so many times on media,so we now definatly know exactly where all our elected polititions stand on this issue, dispite the intended legal challenges about to go court in future, its a done deal, and to believe other wise is to delude ourselves,as to how this will work out for govenment and there bum licking police collegues is anyones guess,i would say its a preety good guess that because the ban not only being on msa rifles but just bout all repeating rifles now being allso include, there will be significant resistance to the new laws by many gun owners once they finally realise how comprehensive this ban is,will be interesting on this plays out, facts are if very significant numbers dont comply there will be very little police and government can do about that, the end result being they will have made many law abiding gun owner criminals at stroke of a pen for no reason,
just few thoughts on this saga of government and polices lies and bully tactics.
 cheers mike

they have now pretty much banned all guns using any pistol cartridges,so good bye to most lever action and single shot pig hunting carbines, any gun even with tube mags that hols more than 10 cartridges, and the list goes on,they lied ,told us was only going to be A cat MSA rifles, but E cat gone now as well,a gun register for all guns is coming as well,so they have gone after pretty much most repeating sporting rifles that have been used in nz for 100 years guys, the intention as has been stated by Simion Bridges and Judith Collins of NAT party last week is to make nz a gun free country,so NATs on board too and going to support whatever the Labour mob and nz police want fully in parliment, find it bit strange the media never picked up on Bridges comments on thus last week that he was proud to be part of making this country one the first to gun free, just proves once again we cant trust any politition or any polititical party any more on this or most other issuses any more either, last week parliment is going to pass two laws that bassically will make full term pregnacys legel ,thats murder of a full term baby, and same week make it legal to kill terminally ill ,what does it say about a country that going to make what is really murder legal eh!!this is the world we live in today,i personally have issuses with abortion for right reasons before the fetus has a heart beat and no brain function, and no issuses with suicide,by personal choice, but do have serious issuses with legalised medical murder.
 food for thought eh!
