Did you sand it with the finish oil or did you use water? I tried a bit of the oil and it dried up while sanding. I haven't done a wet and dry sand yet. How say you?

I oiled and let it dry overnight, sand and repeat etc

The only thing about these stock blanks, is I feel they all shoulder too low on the rifle for the seated position. When your shoulder is in line with the bore you get the least recoil.
I guess you can just move the buttplates up.

Davey, there are some pretty advanced butt plates being produced here in NZ. Newer, choicer technical advancements being internalised daily by some of the countries greatest tutu minds.

It's not the buttplates, it's the mounting point on the stock :)

I decided to have a dress rehearsal tonight. I fitted my adapted butt plate and fired a few shots. I'm really pleased with my position. Shooting actual targets will tell.
