Wow! What a beauty Billbo!
Your young fellah is going to have some fun with that superb machine! Please keep us posted on the ballistics, as you get to know it more.... I'm told a crossbow is "loopier" than a long bow? That surprises me because I've always thought a crossbow bolt would be flatter shooting? It'll be interesting to hear more.. And as you say, the good thing about such a platform, is that you can use it on bigger game too. Can't wait for the pics..... Is it easy to carry on the slopes down your way? |

Oliver absolutely loved it. He got the sneezes and had to hold them back which got us into fits of giggles. He was in charge of scent control with the smoke bottle checking wind. Had a ball of a time.
Ballistics are quite good. Firing around 410fps, I choose to go slightly heavier with the bolts it came with. Was around 420fps with the standard bolts. Proving to be very accurate out to 80m. Not too bad to carry on the hills, being a bullpup style makes it excellent for in tight bush. Below is the closest I've stalked into a few deer, 150m before they winded me. |

Serious technology, looking forward to follow up posts.
Great pictures, 80 yards what a range, bit much for a hand mower. "Fingers down" great advice, well done to the users and manufacturers that come up with new safety ideas. cheers for now.

What's the arc like of the bolt?
I imagine your air rifle shooting would be of benifit for bolt trajectory. Great way to spend time with Oliver. Nice pic. Shame wasn't a bit closer and you got to put a bolt in before pic. |

At a guess, when shooting to 80, probably a good 20+ inches of arc if this makes sense

Alot of hard work finally paid off.
Took this young one this morning at around 15m after it's mother didn't give me a shot opportunity. Stags were roaring further up the ridge but refusing to come down. It made it around 13m from where I shot it. |

Nice. You'll be stoked.
Meat in freezer. Nicely placed shot. Did the shaft survive. |
