Try messaging now. I boosted your points. I believe this has to get to a certain level before you can message. if it doesn't work report back. Nunga knows the proper ins and outs.

HW80's are terrible rifles, worse than Gamo even. Horrible trigger, inherently inaccurate and valueless second hand.
Which is why, if you don't buy it Westy, I'll be happy to, as a public service, so that no one else will be disappointed by it. Welcome!

Thanks for the info, I have enough patience, to see how it will perform, so I'm sure it will be easier / more accurate than my hatsan 135 QE. 25, happy to make it a project if it requires tuning

Welcome Westy, the Hatsan 135 is a hell of a way to get back into airguns.
Read the reviews, keep asking questions and enjoy the process of choosing your next air rifle. HW98 is a great selection but not generally available in New Zealand. Cheers from Taranaki

I Have an HW98 in 177. It's probably 15 years old. Previous owner for it's first 4 years treated it beautifully, and put hundreds of shots through it. I had a 95 for a while and they are basically the same, but the 98 with adjustable stock and that thicker barrel just makes it special.
The modern ones with the threaded barrel for a silencer would be good. The accuracy of the 98 makes me giggle when I shoot it. |

I have a 98 in .177 also. Not available here so I imported it from Krale around 12 months ago. A beautiful gun although mine had a manufacturing fault and performance deteriorated very quickly. I was able to repair it myself (warranty was out of the question really). I bought it in preference to the 97 and I’m very pleased with my choice.
