Hi everyone,

I’ve just joined the group and thought I’d introduce myself, after not picking up an air rifle since the late 70’s , earlier this year   I picked up a Hatsan 135 QE in .25 cal, which had some work done on it — de-burred / polished piston, upgraded suppressor internals with a 3D-printed frame for tighter tolerances, also a new spring and breech seals.

Originally, it was purely for pest control — we’ve had a big increase in rats in the backyard. But what started as culling quickly turned into something more. I began setting up cans of baked beans at different distances to test my accuracy, then added splatter targets to track progress.

Before long, it became something I genuinely enjoy — almost therapeutic. After putting in the time and taking plenty of shots to tighten my grouping, after   watching countless youtube videos, I’ve caught the bug.

Now I’m looking to step up to a Weihrauch HW80 or HW98 in .22 cal. Keen to experience the satisfaction of shooting with a high-quality rifle and a top-tier trigger.

If anyone has an HW80 or HW98 they’re thinking of selling, feel free to reach out — I’d be keen to chat.

Cheers!

Westy

Welcome bro,
my first adult airgun was a hatsan to, nothing flash but that's where the addiction started.

I totally gel with the therapeutic side of pulling triggers lol

There was an hw80 mentioned forsale on here not long ago, I remember reading about it, other than that i think there was a couple on trademe recently also.

I've never shot either but always liked the look of the HW98

Hi. Welcome to the slippery slope of air guns.
Its a world where no two guns are the same.
Full of little idiosyncrasies to drive you mad, but knowledge and practice give great rewards.
Where wallets empty for the sake of trying a new gun.
Where small game shooting becomes interesting and a
challange again.
relitivitly small distance become a challange in wind. Pellet drop is a major learning curve and target shooting requires skill to master
Where pulling apart your gun is par for the course, great fun and rewarding when you improve its preformance.
Yep welcome to the slippery slope, she's a ride and a half.
And we're all sliding down it with you.
Ask questions, put up pics, write up your adventures, share your experience. Always keen to hear how you are sliding down the slope.
