I must try this on the cheapo .177 I picked up on TradeMe for $15. Only got it so I could take it apart , clean and re-lube without worrying about breaking it. It was all gunked up inside and I've added over 120fps to the muzzle velocity. It's turned out way better than I hoped but it's still very twangy. Only ever be a "plinker" but It's a lot of fun trying to hit tin cans to 30m with open sights.

ok time for an update, I pulled the spring out of my prosport today, cut a piece of plastic from lemonade bottle so that it fit around the exsisting metal guide and touched edge to edge once wrapped, also cut it about 10m shorter than the guide. Was a bitch to get it into the spring but a bit of banging in on straight down on the ground did the trick. Reassembled, fired a shot and wow it was like brand new, so I fired a doz or so shots and the difference is amazing. Thank you everyone for that do it yourself fix, worked a treat. I try drop a couple hundred pellets through it tomorrow see how it holds out
