I've got a Prosport .177 made in 2011 It's been a tack driver forever, still is but... I installed a new mainspring myself purchased from Youngs, just watched a vid on youtube it was easy as, moly here, greese there etc. i didnt put a new seal in as didnt know how without damaging it and i shot fine so didnt want to fix what wasnt broken. Still shoots awesome considering the bluing is long gone from the barrel shroud but it twangs. Wondering if anyone in south island knows how to sort that out or make a guide or something, whatever it needs to quieten it up again and how much it might cost. I put a new scope on it a fixed 10* which i love but it's still slightly canted, been trying to get it right, doing my head in so I have a look again tomorrow maybe. Not sure yet if i want to keep it as a back up or sell it and keep using my new tx but I want it with a nice quiet shot cycle again. Does anyone here know who does this kind of tuning? I've long lost the new seal

Not sure about tuners in the mainland - but you can get a TbT kit for your gun which includes new spring with matching guides, dry moly paste and molly grease for approx 200 bucks - basically 60 pounds sterling + delivery. Check out https://www.airrifletuning.com - there is even a step-by-step video of the process to strip, clean fit the kit and put it back together again. I think there is also a video on fitting new piston seals Edited by -Ec - 04 May 2026 at 5:38pm |

I've had two TBT kits, neither of them were simple drop-in items. HW30 and HW98. In both cases the guides were too long preventing the guns from cocking and had to be trimmed. This can take quite a bit of time and multiple pull downs to get right which can be a bit annoying. That said, they are effective. I now make my own although they are somewhat different to the TBT design.

Mine for hw dropped strait in.
The spring sizes are different between full power and 12fpe. The spring for hw was a bit shorter due to the addition of bottom guide and slip washers. It is noted on the sight that if you get the wrong size spring or try putting the original spring back in, it will be too long and the sear won't catch. But thats only from my one experience and im totally stoked with the resaults. |

My kits were with the TBT springs and I installed with no spacers fitted. Neither would latch without trimming, one required quite a bit and it's pretty much trial and error to get this right. I approached Nic and he offered a discount on my next purchase. He said that Weihrauch makes unannounced internal changes that can cause this problem. They do work very well though and I'm not disappointed, just warning that some work may be needed.

Ive already been in contact with Nic regarding this. While the Diana 31/34 kit should be a drop in, I'm going to take the gun apart, take some measurements and send them to him. I'm pretty sure there is a video on his YouTube channel that covers off what measurements he needs for this.

You get the "Twang" because the spring is too lose on the steel guide tube. It needs to be a nice tight fit around it. When the spring compresses it unwinds and gets slightly bigger. When you pull the trigger and the spring un-compresses you get the twang. to fix this without buying an expensive kit you can get a plastic coke bottle. cut it out to make a sheet. Then wrap that around the guide tube. This will last a while till you find a more permanent solution. and it does work as i did that on my TX back in the day before i machined up my own kit.
