Crosman Tyro ( perviously called Raven)

I bought a Crosman tyro as an upgrade for the kids, they currently have a crosman 760 multipump. Very small and light rifle, great for a starter for kids.

The tyro is a Christmas present,so, to make sure its broken in, i put a few pellets through it, after 200, i still wasnt happy. The trigger, dieseling and lots of flyers with at best 100mm groups at 16m.

I stripped it down, the trigger has lots of burs and twisted metal work,  my fault for buying a Chinese made rifle, but i have a soft spot for crosmans. After much filing to square off and smooth out contact points, better lubrication, its working way better now. The piston grease smelled like normal petroleum grease, hence to constant dieseling im guessing. After cleaning everything off and relubing, reassembly.

Back on the range, no dieseling at all now, smooth consistent trigger. After 40 or 50 shots, im now punching the same hole over and over. 
This is why i like crosman i think, low cost but with a little TLC, become a diamond.

	Nicely done. Trigger certainly has potential in that form. Just needed that finesse you have done.

	After completing the overhaul of this rifle, I'm wondering what others on here use for lubrication of their airguns? Being in New Zealand, it tends to be a case of what can be found and/or imported. For this rifle I used Abbey moly paste on the metal-to-metal points, Super Lube silicone grease on the metal to plastic points, Abbey moly grease and a very little Abbey SM50 silicone oil. In the trigger, I put a small lump of Abbey moly paste on the metal-to-metal parts that I had just filed and a light smear on the other metal-to-metal parts. With Super Lube silicone grease on the metal to plastic parts. For the piston, I put a light smear of Abbey moly paste over the piston and bore, then cleaned it back lightly with meths, to fill the microscopic pores in the metal, leaves a smoother surface. Then I put a light smear of Super Lube grease over the piston. On the main spring, I put a very thin coat of Abbey moly paste, then a light coat of Abbey moly grease. With a little Super Lube silicone grease where the spring presses on the base of the plastic spring guide. Once the rifle was back together, I put a drop of Abbey SM50 silicone oil down on either side of the piston, waited a minute for it to run down and then put the stock on and put a few pellets through it to work the oil in. I'll have to repeat the oiling now and then. I brought in the Super Lune silicone grease and Super Lube silicone oil together. I found an Abbey airgun lubricant kit at Young's. I see Abbey no longer do the moly paste anymore

	I hadn't found anything about the Crosman tyro trigger repair or mods, so I'm doing a lot of detail on this thread to help out anyone who gets one and wants to improve its performance
