thanks chaps. Seems it is a bit of an orphan for information.
I doubt mine makes 450 fps , more like 250 on a good day but it intrigued me - and thats enough for me :-)

Been getting chat gpt to do some research on it.
Can you post picture of the box, gun,gun markings and serial number and I'll reopen the conversation. Its been quite interesting so far but not over fruitful. Relevant info ive found so far and edited ( ive been exploring avenues but the lack of specific info is a bit of a hassel as there seems to be very little info) Import & Collaboration History of Marksman Products According to historical records, Marksman Products did not necessarily build all their own air rifles — they often imported or sold airguns from other established manufacturers under the Marksman brand name: Blue Book of Gun Values Imported/Distributed Brands Milbro (Scotland) – Marksman imported and sold some Milbro airguns, including pistols. Blue Book of Gun Values BSA (England) – They imported air rifles from BSA and included them in their product offerings. Blue Book of Gun Values Weihrauch / BSF (Germany) – Spring-piston rifles from this respected German maker were also brought in and sold by Marksman in the U.S. Blue Book of Gun Values Anschütz (Germany) – Some precision rifles were imported under Marksman’s distribution. Blue Book of Gun Values So rather than Marksman co-designing or co-manufacturing models with other companies, they generally: Imported foreign-made rifles and sold them in the U.S. under the Marksman brand or as exclusive distributor models. Also manufactured their own spring-piston and break-barrel airguns (especially older / simpler designs). Eventually became part of S/R Industries, which also acquired Beeman Precision Arms — another well-known airgun brand — in the early 1990s. Those Beeman rifles were often imported and marketed in the U.S. but built in Germany before the acquisition. Morton H. Harris was the founder and early driving force behind the American Marksman brand. bluebookofgunvalues The Marksman Model 1780 was almost certainly produced in the period from the late 1970s through at least part of the 1980s. There’s no exact documented first or last production year readily available in published sources — but the model number range and the fact that it appears alongside other 1970s/1980s Marksman catalog listings makes that timeframe the most consistent with its appearance on the market. |

Found this doing a history search on marksman
The Marksman 1780 Deluxe is a modern (likely 20th-century) break-barrel spring-piston air rifle, not directly related to the 1780 in its name, which references the famous Girandoni repeating air rifle from the late 1700s Which makes me wonder if its possible a 1790 which you can find info on. Deluxe or biathlon on the box? Biathlon is the 1792 model and deluxe the 1790 i believe Edited by kruzaroad - 2 hours 36 minutes ago at 7:24pm |

All good. More questions when you got time.
Is the stock plastic? Is there a number on the left hand side of the receiver? Where im at. The 1780 is a refrance to the orignal pcp gun from 1700s (Which just thinking about it, ill see if there is a model 80. Could be that 17 is just the tribute) It may be printed on all 17xx guns. Got gpt to search model numbers on marksman guns and apparently its on left of receiver near back somewhere. I'll follow the model 80 thought and see if it produces anything. |
