I wouldn't go any more coarser than 400 grit, then I would finish with a higher grit so it's nice and polished for the pellet to travel over. You could even get autosol and using the wood dowel, polish it. The dowel should mold to the harder surface. Making sure to remove all traces of autosol from the barrel afterwards too.

I'm sure we will hear from Dvlnme soon. He has had an eye injury and been unable to look at screens for a while.

Hey mate, not sure if you got this sorted or if this may help someone else, but;
I just got one of these and have had the same thing. I removed the barrel and was able to replicate the fault and found pellets were coming out badly scarred from the magazine itself. I found the magazine doesn't sit perfectly aligned with the barrel, and pushing the bolt forward makes this worse. I did two things to help improve this:
1, Disassemble magazine and slightly chamfer the inner edge of the hole the pellet exits through (80% of the improvement came from this) I used a small dremel tool with a cone shaped grinding wheel, but there are many ways to skin this cat. 
2, Note that the magazine itself moves quite far when the bolt comes forward, especially with a badly snagged pellet. On the front face of the magazine there's an empty thread down the bottom right corner (looking at magazine from shooter's POV) I put a screw in this and cut the head off just above the surface. This holds the mag in place and stops it wobbling around and exasperating snagged pellets. This was the remaining 20% of the imrpovement. 

The gun now cycles exactly as it should. I should say I also used a small wooden dowel with P400 (wet) to deburr around the transfer port and inner barrel, recommended if yours aren't smooth already.

Ill file that away in the old grey matter as a useful concept incase i ever need it.
Hey bill bob do you want a neoprene sleeve for that co2 bottle on your cr? I brought a pair to make a cheek riser for the 1322. Only need one. Be a stable insulator compared to bare metal.
