I changed from .177 JSB Exact Diablo (8.44g) to H&N Baracudas (10.65) and immediately found pellets mag or pellet seating jamming often. Mag seems to seat fine only when cocking is there the issue.

Wiggling the cocking lever at the same time as the mag can fix the issue, but sometimes I need to pull mag shaft and cocking back and wiggle the mag to get it out then re-fit.

This is recurring on each mag.

I removed and lubed the mag O ring and mag and found zero issues with JSB, but the H&N Baras will load but with extra force required - pre-lube they did not want to load at all.

I note all pellets looked and loaded fine when loaded into the mag.

Has anyone else found issues with loading high quality pellets of different sizes?

I presume my used Cyclone has done a bit of work given previous owners used it for culling, professionally I think...could this indicate a service and maybe replacement of some parts is over-due?

It will be the head size causing the problems. I have found with JSB they tend to set the skirt  as the head size. If you measure the heads you will find they are all the same size and it is the skirt which is different.  H&N the head size is the hard size. I find the H&N are way tighter in the barrel because of this.

When I had a Cyclone I tried H&N Baracuda and experienced exactly that. Silicon solved the issue.
They were very accurate for me too. I was using the Baracuda match.

Even more interesting.

The "feel" of H&N baracuda pellets compared to JSB AFTER fresh silcon was that I can now push the pellets into the breech but with more force than required with the JSB. Which makes perfect sense given what you both tell me.

But it was only a few hundred shots ago that I lightly siliconed the mags and I didn't remove the o Rings as i did this time so lube is definitely on the INSIDE of the O rings now.

The pellets are Baracuda "Long Range Hunting" at 10.65g, the same weights as pellets labelled Baracuda "Hunter Exteme" in a sample pack - are these marketing names for the same pellets? What weight are your Baracuda Match Pauly - on the H&N site they are also 10.65....?

In my short 18m back yard shooting the change to heavier pellets has no impact on POI but I'm sure further out things would be different...

Maybe lube is the answer to all of the worlds problems????? LOL

You might be onto something wit the lube Wink

There are a few different Barracuda types. The ones I used were smooth domed. I do wonder if the harsher ridges on the hunter extreme make it harder too?
