I think the most likely outcome of registration is risk weighted arms management - ie: folks who have a "collection" of firearms, or of a style/calibre with no great civilian use, will be subject to additional scrutiny.

The rest of us who have a normal rifle, or two or three, in our safe will probably see no great change.

Because the weapons with hard projectiles have the potential to injure or kill. If you started airsoft ft shooting sure you would have no issues with the law.
Not that bbs be that great for it.

I used to shoot FT here in NZ. I actually represented NZ in 2 worlds competitions, one I travelled to the UK for.

These new rules have killed the sport I found great joy and relaxation in and I feel a bit hard done by. I see though that you can still dress up in full tactical gear and act out shooting people in airsoft and paintball. I'm not anti them, but then why do non violent target shooting disciplines get penalised.

I miss that aspect, but am grateful I do pest work for a job,

Regarding the anti gun rhetoric on Stuff - No doubt the 'woke' anti-crowd will change their tune very quickly if it looks like a war is brewing in this part of the world.

Now see what we're up against:

I've also just received an email from the new Police Authority about registering all my Firearms on the new NZ Firearms Register - which is a total waste of time according to all the shooters I know!!! Exclamation

Have you received the same yet?

Have no idea. Couldn't care less if they did. I haven't ever been asked for name or identification when buying from a gun shop.
Guess the grey hair gives it away that I'm over 18 and entitled to use own one.

I was informed by someone in the industry air rifle sales were being reported on request of the Police. It was not clear if this applied to a specific region or country wide.

Compared with other western and developed countries New Zealand is fairly easy on gun control.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overview_of_gun_laws_by_nation

Since taking up shooting and mixing in these circles I have quickly learned to take a lot of what is said with a grain of salt.

The Arms Officer I got was actually quite a helpful bloke. Between myself and referees I think there were 4 AO's involved and noone said anything negative about their interviews. But one would think by listening to the gossip the Police are out to get LFAO's.

ACT used to be a libertarian party but that has gone by the wayside. Yes, they have some policies I agree with but ultimately they will just be supporting National.

I think 50% chance air rifles will end up being licensed. Because of the actions of a few d*heads.

gun laws are allways bout politics, this last lot we are inflicted with was never about what government and police told the public it was,it was never about making the country saffer as they told the public it was,and that lie has exploded in their faces since,as not a day or two goes buy now there isnt a shooting by some idiot or crim with an illegal gun, bassically because idiots and crims dont obey any laws in the first place a very simple fact politions and police just never seem to be able to grasp,99% of all gun crime isnt and never has been commited by legal licensed gun owners ,just another true the powers that be will never admit, because they cant stop criminal activty and never will either,so its easier to pick on licensed gun owners because they can get at them and boast bout it on the media making it look like they are actually doing something bout crime when in fact thet are doing nothing at all bout crime with guns illegally held by crims its all about a feel good political agenda that looks good in the media yet does nothing to improve public saftey and bringing new stricter gun laws that only affect the law abiding wont change a thing because its not and never has been the law abiding that are the problem we now have with criminal misuse of illegally held guns that is not going to go away,we now have an essentually armed police force, but that hasnt changed or improved anything either has it,as all it means is our police now shoot more people than the whole of aussie but this hasnt stopped criminal misuse of firearms either has it??all arming our police has done is to make them parniod bout guns evan more.
as for the politics of who to vote for on this issuse,i agree with a pevious post that there are more important things to cast a vote for than just the gun issuse,ACT will never have the power to change gun laws and the rest wont do either, they are all going to come after licenced legal gun owners no matter what simpliy because its political expediant to doso,as it makes politions look good on tv which is all bout getting votes nothing else, been while since posted anything but this one deserves a reply.
 cheers mike

And a very fine one at that, which requires a lot of skill and knowledge and definitely one under threat with current proposed laws. That I have no dought about at all. Nor that laws are not well thought out or benificial to shooters or our way of life at all.
I'm not in disagreement with that at all.
