Gidday. I have scored this Gamo whisper at a great price. Has an after market trigger, and is very accurate. Passes the bottle top test easily. My main issue is the stock, specifically the "thumbhole. part. I find it uncomfortable for the size of my hand. Are replacement, more traditional stocks available?

Good morning, i had one of those models once and had found the same with my hands. i used to shoot it thumbs up and out of the thumbhole.

that said the actions on gamos dont change much and you may fins another gamo stock that will fit it.

Can you put up a pic of the inside of the stock? The mechanism for cocking is the same the gamo I had but I'm not sure about the highlighted bar and need to see a better pic of inside of stock than this diagram.

That highlighted part looks like the trigger safety which stops the trigger from firing the gun when the gun is in the "cocked" position. I take those out on mine and then your gun can easily be de-cocked by holding the barrel and pulling the trigger. I find it very useful when hunting.

Thanks your dead on Nunga. Clean forgot about that little plastic saftey slide.
So now it's down to the inside of stock, which I don't think will be any differnt but better to be safe than sorry.
Vaughans in upper hutt is the gamo importer, you could ring him as well growlybear. I found him excellent to deal with. Also manged to get me a barrel replacement off one the warrenty returns. He may be able to do the same for a stock (should know if they are interchangeable as well)

Right I got bored and rang up vaughans.
He's not sure so he's going to pull a whisper apart at warehouse and try it on a couple of standard stocks later today if he has the time or in next day or 2. Will get back to you when have heard back and give you stock price and type. @Growlybear

Rimu! Want to throw a pic up anyway?
I'd be dead keen to just see what a Rimu stock looks like. It's a rather nice wood.

Hey growly bear is it spring or gas?
Andrew at vaughans rang back, there is a difference in length with the gas and spring. He's got a gas one there he will try it on and isn't sure if he has a spring model there but is having a look.
Recons about 40bucks plus P&p. Not new so not pristine. I'll get it off him anyway at that price if you don't.
Soon as have answer will about power unit will txt. He also said to look at numbers on barrel, last 2 numbers are the year.

There's a differnce in the ribing. He found one that fits. I'm getting it sent up and if you want it I'll send it to you for cost of stock and freight to you. ( I'll cover cost from welly to me) if its not right for you I'll keep it for a recoil project I was going to do with last gamo but got over the gun and gave it away. 👍

That stock rocks nunga. Really nice colour and grain from what I can see.
Workmanship looks great too.
Have you used rimu for a stock before?
If so how is it for weight and distribution of kick back energy and vibration. (if that discription makes scence)

Its the first time, it is surprisingly light for a wooden stock. If i decide to use it ill let you know how it preforms

Got a few manuka trunks was going to cut for fire wood, if you want to try that. Could chainsaw a slightly bigger than stock piece for you if want.
Its a heavy wood and splits increadable easy, so not to sure if it would be suitable. Offers there if you want it Nunga.

@growlybear. Andrew from vaughans has sent this, after I sent date and its a springer;
(Thinking the major difference is the trigger group with models in 2012-13 roughly having the new trigger systems which may have required a deeper pocket to fit into the stock)
So I'll put a few pics with measurements and you can compare. If it looks good I'll send it down for trial before you pay. If it don't fit send it back and get ahold of vaughans and let him know where we are at with it.

Stocks arrived today.
There is very little difference with the exception of the rear ends.
One has a differnt back setup for where the plastic cover goes, and there is a differance in slots at back.
On of the main reciever/stock bolt holes near barrel is damaged on one,(over tightening and may Nedd cleaning up. Up put more pics of that of its the stock required. But for now here's pics so we can get to the right stock.

With the photo of the rear slots it's the slot shape. The igt stock has trigger gaurd on it so it makes some of holes look differnt shape but they arn't.

Its a like a hybrid of the two.
Send both. See what works.
My money is on the springer. Unfortunately that one has the damaged bolt hole.
It is repairable. May be that igt stock is adaptable. Maybe niether is what you want. Send me back what you don't want. Need to pm postal address please. I'll try for courier early next week

Thanks to Andrew at vaughans.
He pulled apart a couple to try.
I wasn't overly impressed with my gamo, but I can't fault the after market service I've gotten.

Finished off with plastic part for rear. Very happy with the result. A lot more comfortable for me to shoot

So what work did it take to get it going?
I know one of the stock holes would have benefited from a bit of tlc.
Glad it worked out. No point in having a gun that isn't comfortable.

Not yet. Just got it. Looking forward to giving it a go.

Just tidied up the hole. Was gonna bog it and re drill, but it pulled up fine. Some packers to make the trigger guard sit right. Other than that, it dropped straight in. No issues at all, functionally.
