Hi Folks,
My thoughts behind starting this thread is to be able tap into the collective experience and knowledge of this forum, with regards to second hand rifles that might be available on trade me, to help any potential buyer who might not be familiar with that gun.
For this to work if there is a gun on trade me you are interested in, post the Date, make, model, caliber and of course the Price, and anyone with knowledge or experience with that rifle could give you some info.

So I’ll kick it off with:
April 2023 and there are two PCP’s avalible for sale on trade me.
FX gladiator in .22 for 1k
Webly FX2000 in .22 for $700
Anyone have any experiances with these two, good, bad or ugly?

I’ve been interested in a .30cal for a while.
There is currently a hatsan 130 in .30 for sale on trade me. (130 has synthetic stock, not the carnivore 135 with a wallnut stock)
Air rifle.co.NZ were selling them for NZD$370 but are out of stock.
Air rifle.eu are selling them for 192euro which is NZD$340
And Airgundepott are selling them for USD250 which is about NZD400.

The guy on trade me is asking NZD$700… 🤔
Are there any Hatsan .30cal owners here who can remember what they paid for theirs?
Thanks,
Pete.

Did anyone see the 0.50 cal dragon slayer listed yesterday! 200ish foot pound, shooting around 600fps

Hi Jwab,
Ja I saw that one, but came work out if it shoots pellets, slugs, giant BB’s or if u can just use the same projectiles u would reload for a 50BMG… 🤔

By the way, is it you that’s got a Hawke 3-9 listed on trade me?

Slugs according to his blurb.
I dought a 50bmg projectial from a powder burner would fire very well through it. Be like an 22lr bullet fired through a air rifle just doesn't work, head size and weight etc.

I saw that .50 cal. You will probably need to import slugs from the US or make your own mould.

GAMO126 MC SINGLE STROKE PNUEMATIC 10 METER OLYMPIC 177 TARGET RIFLE
Who would have thought!
Know nothing about em, has 70 buck starting price.
Anyone know anything about them.
The words gamo and Olympic 10m target rifle, are words I never expected to see in the same sentance (except a meme)

Posted By: RangerPete
Date Posted: 26 Jun 2023 at 8:23pm
😂😂😂
At 10m, it shouldn’t be too difficult for a rifle to be accurate.
(Note I said rifle, not shooter)
That one looks like a side lever of some sort, so u never know 🤔
For $75 bucks, it’s worth buying it just to see if it can hold any sort of a group at 10m…
And if it’s an Olympic competition rifle(even from the 70’s) it should stack pellets, all be it at 5fpe 😳

Ive had one or two match rifles and the king of the spring match rifles really is the Feinwerkbau 300s. Its a highly engineered weapon that uses a simple spring piston with tioght tolerances and a metal piston ring to seal, on a recoil dampening sledge. The Gamo is single stroke pneumatic so more critical sealing parts etc.

The Gamo is a good rifle, with a match grade trigger (not a Feinwerkbau crisp as glass breaking trigger, but still very capable). They were not around long, and had to compete with some stiff competition. They probably simply couldnt break into the market so became unviable - so many parts and the labour to assemble this type of gun must have been huge.
With that comes scarecity of parts, if the rifle breaks a part you are unlikely to replace it without considerable cost and effort to source. And from memory there was a part that was known to fail.
Goodfor collectors but I wouldnt suggest it to be a high use weapon.

Also, I have seen that seller a bit, the start price isnt the reserve so at the moment it sounds cheap but last time it was listed it got just over $500 and reserve wasnt met...

You have any idea if then trigger would transfer to more modern gamo.?
Shame they never took off. Might have encouraged gamo to make more high end guns.

Posted By: J-S
Date Posted: 28 Jun 2023 at 10:36am
I suppose any trigger can be transferred to any gun with the right engineering modifications...
Id suggest no though.. with SSP rifles the sear is only holding the spring tention of a valve striker / hammer, where modern gamo needs to hold the entire force of the piston and the ultramegamaxxim spring or gas ram.

Billbob,
I saw those .22 slug dies….
But not sure they will fit in my old RCBS rock chucker… I think you need a special press to run those dies.
Still, it is a very interesting concept!
You’d also need to have a reliable and steady supply of good quality lead 🤔.

Looks like a single shot in .177.
Anyone know anything about these rifles?
It looks old (?), not sure if it’s worth $900, but I don’t know much about it.

You got me Paul!  The Hill is what i originally wanted. The GX CS4 is an amazing unit, being portable and 12V maybe a slight advantage over the Hill but I will have a small tank for my hunting. I would keep it if i could but the funds say otherwise!!

There are a lot of Weihrauch HW95’s currently on trade me 😳😳😳
I wonder why? Is the HW95 a powerful springer?

The HW95 is a good mid power springer. They arent a powerhouse but solid, reliable, not too heavy, full power rifle.
The HW80 is the powerhouse but noticably heavier and at 20 footpound has a good kick - the HW95 am easier rifle to shoot. Probably around 16 footpound, still plenty for rabbits, possums, birds at normal range.

I love Weihrauchs, and I would love a 95 or an 80.
When ever I see one for sale on trademe I get itchy fingers…
But every time I think I’m going to bid on a breakbarrel, something in side me says “No, it’s not an under lever!”
Can’t seem to convince my self that break barrels can be accurate too, even though I know it’s a Weihrauch.
Seems my heart is set on getting another HW100T. 🥰
I also wouldn’t mind one of those gorgeous HW97TK’s 🤔

There is also a very interesting HW57 on trade me at the moment.
It is apparently one of the lesser known Weihrauch models, not a flagship or top of the line, but still an underlever and still a Weihrauch 🤔🤔🤔
Did a little research and this one is an older model, not the latest model.
There also seems to be mixed feelings about the pop up breach, although no one has said that it is bad or that it is a fault on the rifle.
Hummm….

The HW57 is an odd one.. Its a small rifle, similar size to HW30 or 50.
We had a club member who bought one when he was a junior - because its an underlever and Weihrauch, but it was quote problematic - I think the pop up breech o rings may have kept dislodging. I think I recall a broken spring too, which thinkinmg about it now I wonder if it was related to the breech issues - no resistance is like dry firing which can kill a spring.

Modern break barrels have pretty well machined lockups, especially the better brands like weihrauch. youd be hard pushed to proved fixed barrel rifles are any more accurate than break barrels these days.

Thanks JS.       Hummmm…. 🤔🤔🤔
Sounds like a challenge some where in there 😂
Anyone keen for a breakbarrel vs fixed barrel challenge? Just for fun 😉
Post a pic of your best bench rest group at 30m (or further) stating all your gun/pellet/distance info.

In break barrels I hear the Sig is quite impressive, and personally I think the Weihrauchs will shine.
In fixed barrels, Weihrauchs, AA’s, Diana’s… I’ll even give my Gamo a whirl 😂.

Let’s see if anyone’s keen. If there are a few takers it might be worth starting a new thread for this.
Pete.

affectionately nicknamed "Chinese Finger Choppers" - take note of the cocking method in the link above.
The asking price makes it a cheap gun, but its still on the upper end of what they are worth.
Might be ok for a bit of fun or a project rifle, but dont expect great things from it...

I have a very old one of these. I can tell you they are solid and chunky when cocking. the barrel is cheap has a primitive trigger safety. The biggest problem with them is when loading the pellet they tend to fall out if you are not careful and when you close the breach you end up squashing the pellet and then it will dry fire. so you have to load the gun with barrel facing to the ground at all times. Do not expect to get speeds faster than 500fps with 8.4gr pellets. It does shoot straight and accurate out to 30 meters.

I hear the new stock of Air Arms TX200s are in the country and dont be surprised if the price starts with $2xxx... Im not sure if thats the standard or the new "ultimate springer" version...

Is that the .25? Pricey but nice German guns.
And when you think the HW97 is $1500+ and the TX200 probably more, it’s not so bad..
