1322 arrived.
Brought from magnium sports Taranaki. Great service prompt delivary. Will use them again for sure.

As expected not that high in quality but thats why its getting up graded.
Happy with feel out of box. Lighter than expected.
Fired 2 shots (cause you just got too)
to test trigger. Trigger suprised me. Was light crisp and smooth. It will get polished but totally usable out of box.

First shot aimed at one of fiber glass tent poles (thinner than my finger) I use to hold targets, with AA field 16gr (5.51mm undersize pellet for tx) at 20m. Friggin hit!!!! Strait out of box that suprised me. 2nd shot missed but im not a pistol shooter and wasnt expecting to hit anything. 😊

Front post sight is thicker than I like and no fiber dots on it or rear blade. Im hoping to replace it with a bug buster.
Lubrication points easy to access.
Saftey nice audible sound,distinct clicks.
Easy as to pump to ten pumps.

Cons first look. Bolt has slight sideways play, getting steel breach so hopefully that cures that.
Shooting left handed the inside of trigger finger touches the saftey button, just enough to make me notice. Once stock arrives ill be back to using right hand so doesnt bother me.
Biggest issue off hand is the play on pumping and something I'll be getting bushes for next time get to town.

After a 25 pumps you can already see the issue.

For a cheap project gun its actually turned out a lot better than I expected my first impressions would be.
I'll do some volicity testing later today and a target if i get a chance to set up an indoor range in wool shed for comparison of volicity and accuracy as I upgrade it.
Ill probly switch to fft at 14.66gr for volicity testing ( just because I have a couple hundred left Im not using), and most likey wont do any real pellet testing till its done.

Well to dark in wool shed for chrono to work. To dark to see centre of 🎯.
Power saving light bulbs sux.

Woooo awesome. As you build this you will want to buy another to keep unmodified to see how awesome the modified one is haha

Go to Mitre 10 and get some LED strip batter lights (I got some for around $80) and they are awesome

Hell no I'll spend me last cent on air guns but wouldnt spend more than 30 bucks on lighting for the wool shed. Just the rain came back over.
Its plenty light during the day when I can open the doors. More likely ill get a portable work light.
Will add fiber optic dot front post rear blade sights to list now. Should just nick the ones off the stoeger x5 and adapt them. Not good to steal from arthur to pay marther thou.

You can buy the cheap LED lights at super cheap auto, and just put them over the sensors with a bit of paper to diffuse the light. I found that worked ok, or LED strip on a 12 volt DC power supply. Both cheap ways to light a chrono.

Lego light sabers make good optic spots too.

The fps test and targets.
Pellets strait out of tins of unsorted.
Pistol rested.
Sight still factory set.
10x pump

FTT:hi 490fps (forgot i stored it with 2 pumps) low 461fps ave 476fps
Last 2 digits 90@(12pumps),61,77,79,79,76,78,75,76,73
Fpi from average 7.38@muzzle

Hades:lo 452fps hi 459fps ave459fps
(There was only three differnt readings the rest were duplicates. Those being 452 456 459
Fpi from average 7.44@muzzle

Being that they advertise it upto 460fps im pretty impressed with that.
Grouping I wasnt looking for anything except to see if it tightened with a differnt brand.

Sweet barrel and stock arrived from youngs.
Should turn out about the size Im going for.

Stock is clean as, well moulded. Was expecting something would need sanding off. Nope sweet as.
Now need to sort a quick relase pin to hold in place. Screws not that pratical for breaking it down for pack.
Any ideas or sujestions would be appresiated.
Barrel not the same finish quality. (At $44 I didnt expect it to be)
Threw it on a striat edge, not laser strait but not bent,if that makes sence. Residue in barrel (like looking down a .22lr after the first two shots after cleaning) from factory.
One drill hole has a flake metal still in it. Minor damage at one end. Not from transport here was packed well. Factory I guess or enroute to nz.

Will order a noise suppressor then ship it off to gun smith get it threaded and recrowned, bore polished.
Noise suppresser recomendations be appresiated.

I tried to mention you in but don't think it worked on who was selling suppressor adapter for these guns

I use a stealth .17hmr/.22 suppressor on my cr600w which works a treat and low cost

Posted By: Billbobnz
Date Posted: 05 Oct 2022 at 2:26pm
You need a FAL to buy suppressors so make sure you tell the gun shop it's for an airgun

Posted By: dvlnme

i didnt know you needed firearms lic to buy suppressors as never been asked for lic, sounds like bit more the total bs in new laws that dont make sense.

Yes its a lot of BS. it might have been the local one i brought the stealth one from. they tried to tell me you cant put them on airgun so i had to tell them they have no idea what they are on about so i showed them a photo of my cr600w build and they nearly fell over. they have been awesome ever since

breech arrived. Pulled apart to polish trigger and install.
Then this... new one on order. Didn't even put any pressure on it. sigh
back to trigger and cylinder polishing for now.

Looks like the standard one from the plastic breech - these are not threaded they are peened over i believe. Stainless upgrade from youngs in order, or upgrade from overseas - extended or hollow probe.

one should be here next week.
Still got trigger/sear polished, and ripped the bullet out of. 22lr, emptyed power, put in gun fired primer, so case wouldn't streach. polished and used for spring giude and flat face for sear to sit on. perfect fit. Do need to get spacers for both trigger and sear, rediculous amount of side movement for both.
Trigger is smooth as now.
Prob do hammer tomorrow and tube.

Date Posted: 15 Oct 2022 at 1:49pm
Well decided to shim out trigger and Sear. Didn't fancy 80km round trip to town.
After much mucking around came up with this solution?

So if ya need a shim in a hurry.... Knock out the pin, smack with hammer, drill center to size, smack with hammer and polish.
if you have a good drill chuck you can hold by pin in drill and file to diameter first

That's that section done till I upgrade it.now for 1/2 hour just pulling trigger wear it in a bit.

Well got bored and drilled out the standard barrel band to within a mil then sanded it out to fit longer barrel and threw stock on to see how gun feels.
Light, steady, short, very nice to shoulder, quick to get on sight. really nice point of Balance.
little bit of stock movement, I'll sort out.
Hopefully the postie brings the new bolt tommorow and I can test it for volicity.
Turns out gamo scope will fit till I get a picatinny adaptor, so I can clip a scope on and off.
polished hammer some what. ( machining tool marks petty deep and didn't look like any effort to remove them) Piston tube surprisingly smooth hammer end.
Look at pistion end of tube after i see what fps increase I get off barrel.
If it works out and is accurate I can already see it as my primary gun for small bird/pest and close rabbit.
I'm really liking it.
already considering getting a second one if this works out and only putting top end parts on, now I'm starting to see what gun is about. For about the price of a gamo magnum I could have a totally custom gun.

Good stuff. I imagine the longer barrel will get you more efficiency.

I bought a Crosman 362 a month ago, and I am very impressed by it. 4 pumps gets me just over 8 foot pound, and accuracy is very good too. Very similar price.

I'm keen on getting one and would be keen to hear a good review on it from a kiwi.
fps, build quality, pros, cons accuracy etc.
your opinion as a hunting rifle.
if your keen, as detailed as possible.

oh and have the old crosman barrel. standard 1322 if anyone wants it.
compatable with 2240,50,60 I believe.
Free to some who has a project, or maybe wants to change barrel cal.
used about 30 times I guess.

Im no expert to be fair, but imagine both are good and an improvement on original.
Both seat the pellet a little further past the transfer port.

Bolt arrived today. Installed.
pellets pain in arse to feed in with scope on. But then pellets were pain in arse with tx in beginning. Hopefully time and practice will sort that.
Padded out base of grip and side of grip hoping it would stop stock movement. Hasn't will have to go to harder material.
To windy to set up for accuracy test but volicity increased.
ftt 14.66gr Unsorted
Numbers. 531 fps ( I assuming I had air left in but pretty sure I didn't, may have been pellet, or chrono)
rest of string 491,497,491,492,494,491,494,484, 494
hi 531fps, lo 484fps, ave 495fps
that gives a fpe of 7.98@495fps.
So 19fps gain ( prob be a tad lower if dropped first shot and reshot it)

increase of 1 fpe with barrel change.
Got to find an end cap for breech if anyone knows of one. Breech came without bolt or end cap.
will sort piston, valve and port next.
( yep bit the bullet and ordered a debit card)
Throw up some grouping targets when wind dies down.

I don't know if mitre10 sell what are called Christmas tree fixings (used to use them at work for fitting underpannels on the underside of upholstered goods. they would be perfect as an end cap

They could work.
I'll keep it in reserve, I'd prefure the part.

Put jb plastic wield at bottom of stock, where frame sits. Vasoline on frame where going to touch. put back together for 10min,then pulled apart and let dry. Stock back on, soild as.
16gr area for pellets looks promising.
scope at max height adjustment which sux. Maybe a shim.

Posted By: kruzaroad
Date Posted: 22 Oct 2022 at 6:02pm
sweet shimmed back of sight with a drink can, which by pure fluke brought it dead on bull at 20m.
Fired few more targets. Liked the hades went for walk and was pleased.
Doing what I want it for.

Posted By: kruzaroad
Date Posted: 23 Oct 2022 at 7:50am
thanks, but now I've spent a bit of time looking at parts, nope it's lame.
There's at least 2 different valve set ups I want to try, a match trigger set,
heavier hammer and spring, roll pin holding cocking level will be replaced, get rid of the crosman screwdriver head bolts and replace with allen key,
Loather Walther barrel, Custom wood work. Folding or quick release stock.
higher quality breach and extended probe, ports of various sizes list goes on.
I'll already have one as well, so won't be a rush build so I can use it.
All providing the world stay sane for the next few months.
Then I'll look at a 362 and turning the gamo into the recoil absorbing experiment I've got planned for it.

Still doing them? could be a good option for this particular 1322.
next one will be blank barrel and hopefully have enough meat to get barrel threaded.
Pic of end of barrel.

You could get a silencer that slip fits over the barrel. I did this on an earlier project.

Posted By: kruzaroad
Date Posted: 27 Oct 2022 at 11:36am
Does it have a grub screw?
Me personally would be vary wary about a just slip on.(not that I have any actual experiance with them.) This pistol is constantly on the move, being swung up for shots, hanging by side. put on ground, gets the odd knock.
Tell ya what though its just getting More and more lethal as it settles.
I can't believe it's shootabilty and accuracy, way beyond what I expected.

Have just added extended bolt Probe bolt with much nicer bolt handel.
Silencer. Huge improvement to gun.
NZ made and Everthing is working a treat. Most pleased with them.
The overlength of gun is 895mm now.
Next move will be to buy a dremil and stock valve and see how much power increase I can get working one.

So the next pieces arrived from Pauly5 couple days ago.
Decent end pins instead of those spring ones. The stock crosman ones are are a pain to get back in
Nicely machined the case harding got a couple scratches, probly in post.
Next move will be dremel, bench press for dremel and I'll work the valve angles for smoother flow. Trim some of the internal threads for slight incress in capacity, trim the valve head and thin the stem to allow better air flow around that section if it, this the vale that the hammer hits.
By a reemer and open up the port between valve and barrel 25% and hope I don't stuff it up.
If works do the 362 as well.

Might see about a softer spring for valve as opposed to increasing hammer spring.
Thoughts on what is best option or any advise from people who have done this before be appresiated.

This is a great thread. Really interesting to see how you've improved the pistol/rifle from the start.  I don't have a clue how to do most of the things mentioned or the names for all the internals of an air rifle but would love to learn.  It seems a lot of these cheap guns have so much potential to unlock.

I had done 2 of those builds. One I sold a couple of years ago, but Have another, basically the same.
Folding stock hinge, adjustable butt, from Aliexpress. Turned up a mounting adapter to fit to gun. Polished trigger and hammer, custom bolt probe, steel breech, carbon fibre tube sleeve over barrel and a carbon fibre silencer.
A great plinker, but quite usable for close pest pigeon work.

Young's are selling them new I believe for $100 less than this guy.

There's also a 2250 stock for sale on trademe if anyone is in need of one. I thionk it is around $50.

Yeah I pulled a 13xx seller up trademe, asked in the questions what mods he had done as it nearly 300 dollars more expensive than buying one.
Was not on site a hour later.

It's because pistol type are apparently not imported into nz anymore.

But yes the 2250 as a carbine is still imported. New ones keep coming up so maybe the 1322 is still available too?

Posted By: Elliot87
Date Posted: 16 Mar 2023 at 11:21pm
I assumed it was just an issue with pcp pistools not being imported. Youngs airguns lists them for sale and when I asked the price it was around $280 I think.

It's not illegal to import an air pistol, spring or pcp, but if it looks like a proper pistol you will need a pretty good reason for them to approve it.
I believe the 13xx and 22xx guns look different enough that the restriction has eased slightly. Before that, the price for one on trademe was high.
