Hello, I've got a couple somewhere which isn't being used much. Could possibly be interested in selling. I used them for use with a bait cannon off our coast

Hahaha

They are an awesome reel. Very simple as you say but when used for surf casting you can definitely cast further than modern reels once you learn the technique.

I built a compressed air bait launcher that was awesome to use with these reels to get out 150-250m. My brother in-law got a kontiki so now not used as much.

My favorite way of fishing is balloon fishing of the Canterbury coast with a Penn Senator 9/0 reel with over 1km of 80lb braid. Biggest fish so far is a 55kg 1.7m long school shark.

If you find the reels Billbobnz throw up some pics I could be interested, have just got a couple of 4.5" off TM (bit smaller than I wanted but should be ok to play with).
It's a bit like guns you can never have too many, something for every occasion (well thats my excuse).
