Hi guys (especially to the oldies who have been in here for a while now and 'may' even remember me).. It's been a while since I posted much in this forum but that doesn't mean that I haven't sneaked in from time to time, just to see what's happening.

I only have a couple of air rifles left these days - Diana 350 Panther .22 & Diana 34 Premium .177 and both of them haven't been fired since I was here last time (excluding those odd sneak by times I mentioned just above) so it has been quite a stretch for me, but then again there have been reasons why. Well, I got kind of bored the other day and had one of those knee-jerk reaction moments where I bought an air rifle on TM, this time it was a Hatsan 125 QE Vortex Sniper Black .22 rammed, so for better or worse it's here and most likely here to stay.. I went to put a few rounds through it a few hours back and as I broke the barrel and began the downward cocking stroke, there was that horrible honking sound that a few new rifles get, needles to say I never cocked it but went looking for the lube I used to have for such occasions, but guess what, not only could I NOT find it but I can't even remember what it was called and/or where I got it from. Can anyone tell me what good lube is around nowadays and where to go for it..!!

As usual, I don't mind paying for good quality stuff but I can't even remember where to start looking. Young's is a good starting point I guess but what do you recommend..?? Oh, as long as it's available in NZ too please...

Does using GA50 moly grease mean you have to strip the gun down to get at the piston? I was watching a PyramidAir video yesterday about this and this 'beast' looks just that, a 'beast' to strip down and then easily get back together again. I used to have a small work area easily set up for airguns on the bench out in the garage but all that's being used for other jobs now, so I am kind of back at square one for maintenance now. When I was "into" airguns big time, back a few years ago, I got some moly grease and other stuff from one of the NZAG members - I still have that but wasn't looking forward to stripping this one down.. The Quattro trigger on this one looks like a nightmare to work on or even remove to get the piston out, from what I saw on the video I saw yesterday, or maybe that was just a video about the trigger alone, I dunno. I watched quite a few by that guy from PyramidAir..

Maybe I can get a silicone chamber lube of some sort and sneak a drop or two either down that transfer port or onto the rear of the piston from where the cocking arm goes into the bottom of the cylinder, and work the barrel back and forth, as I only want to get rid of the honking without causing any detonation. I don't mind leaving the gun for a night or two to let that tiny bit of lube work its way around before firing it, rather than tipping a cup of lube into it and thinking "I'll fix that noise right here and now",, wrong approach isn't it..!!

I suppose I could just head into Ron Youngs airgun shop and take it with me or get ahold of something he recommends and sells. I just don't want to get ahold anything useless like Pellgun oil or similar which will probably do more harm than good to an air rifle of this size/strength or any modern air rifle for that matter..
