thought be better if started new thread for this, rather than butting in on others Paul, well things went better than expected didnt really know what to expect from gun,so was surprised how it went as thu revolver uses same valve as the old single shot Clark pistol, the revolver hammer is different is little heavier and has longer stroke, had compensated by using lighter hammer spring but didnt really know if got it right, just dumb luck it worked out as it did i guess as it pretty much equaled the old single shot first time fired tho did have wider velocity spread am putting that down to the single shot being set and tuned to run exactly in its sweet spot, and not knowing where sweet spot is in revolver yet,it dosnt matter any way as the revolver will be regulated, now got to decide wether to leave gun setup as it is,and go ahead and fit reg and run at full 3200psi fill pressure once i have sorted the leak issuse, tend think leak coming from either damaged seals at valve to hpa tube/tube end cap, fill valve not adjusted right or valve poppet not sealing properly, will put gun in water bath before disassembling that should indicate where leak coming from, hope its nothing major that i stuffed up some where, been a rather challenging and at times frustating project this one, kind of jumped in deep end with this one mate.trouble is every part of this pcp revolver is hand made and only takes something very small to put spanner in the works eh!!could be just a very small machine tool mark on something critical i missed too.but anyway was fun firing it for first time as it functioned perfectly mechanically, action smooth as glass, trigger pull very nice, happy with that part, just got to find and sort out the leak before continue and set gun up and tune it,good to know gun is capable of the 30plus fpe as that was the design goal, but think will down tune it to around 24/26 fpe as this plenty for my purposes and will give a higher shot count as well,so interesting times still ahead with this one Paul. cheers mike

certainly interesting now i have finally got the gun to the stage i can at lest test fire it,as you know its been a long time getting it to this stage mate, its very different to shoot than any other pcp pistol i have fired thats for sure, because most the guns weight is at rear end, balance point just in front trigger guard there is a very perceptable muzzle flip upwards on firing, wouldnt call it recoil but you certainly feel the gun jump when fired and see muzzle flip up,goes off with bit a boom, due to not having any suppresser more of a boom than the crack you get from hi powered unsuppressed pcp rifle prob because of the shorter 11in barrel certainly fun to shoot. The plan now is to sort out the issuses i mentioned then continue testing at full power just to see and confirm what its full potentual really is,and then remove that hammer spring and play around with different springs til i get one that gives me some where around 23/24 fpe with 14.3 /16gr pellets, and then try other lighter springs just to find out where the gun wont function properly off reg with a decent shot count, would be nice if can get it tuned allso at around 15/16 fpe with 14/15 gr pellets for club use ,been thinking bout what i really would use it for these days,it bassically came down to just rats and the occassional rabbit/posum out to max pf approx 25/30 yds,so dont really need that 30 plus fpe setting for most things mate, just really want a practical club and pest shooting handgun these days,if i can acchieve this just by changing hammer springs etc i will still have the 30plus fpe option as well just in case i want it . still a way before i get it right mate, but having now spent 6 years on and off on this project a bit longer not going to matter eh!!!i dont want to anodise and colour it until i dont need dismantle it several more times to work on it,havnt made mind up yet wether to anodise it silver or satin black, what colour having seen it what colour do you reckon would suit it??got used to the polished alli finish and kind of like the silver colour personally, seems suit the gun ,got be anodised to give it a harder wearing finish than soft alli. cheers mike

What sort of colour does anodising give it? Is it a slightly duller silver? Yes, I like the finish now, but a slightly duller silver would still look good too. I can't really think of any other colour for it, and I agree, it will benefit from that harder finish too.

silver anodised finish i like is very much like brushed stainless steel they use on stainless steel firearms sort of a satan silver colour not quite as shiny as the polished finish mate, havnt been having much luck with doing anodising myself, got the anodising process ok but not having much luck with the dyeing process, think its the type of dye am using, got a mate who runs the anodising plant at ans allininium manufacturer in new plymouth have asked him to get me some the silver dye they use,but if have to will get him do it for me,only costs $100,but still want be able to anodise things myself, not a hard process so must be doing some thing wrong here, but never done it before so just a learning curve i guess. cheers mike

i cant post pics,\ Paul got the few pics i sent him ,maybe will have take and send few more to him and have him post them, got to get a smart fone eh!!all dismantle AGAIN at present sorting out some small hpa leaks that came up during test fire sesson, had expected a few as thought may have damaged one hpa tube seal during assembly and never really know with a handmade gun if everything exactly right with valve seats etc until its fired few times with this one as its little more complicated inside than the usual pistol,i spent 6 years now on and off on this revolver project so this latest version has some parts from previous guns and some new parts etc so bit of a hybrid in some ways so some parts been in several different guns now before this one, thats proberly part the problem with the leaks etc, wont really know what any probs are til study all the bitz n pieces properly i guess. cheers mike

The catch is the Police are not giving any import permits for restricted airguns - ie airguns that look like a pistol.

seems to me that laws pertaining specifically to any type airguns havnt yet been included in the new bs gun laws ans as the old system no longer exists in law apparently,nz police are bassically making up their own rules, and still carrying on as if the old system still is the law particually when it comes to airguns they dont like for various reasons,as new laws give nz police a lot of discression there isnt much we can do about import permits and bans etc,as to wether this is legal, its not yet been tested in court,so status quo will remain until either law changes for airguns come in or police discression becomes the accepted version of the law by government, dont hold your breath on anything changing for the better with this government,nz police hate pcp airguns, are parnoid bout anything that remotely looks like a pistol so nothing is ever now likely to change these opinions with nz police now they have the power to bassically interperate or enforce any gun laws now as they see fit and apparently licenced firearms holder and every one involved with anysort of firearm or airguns users have under these new laws no legal recourse to test them in court now either, its pretty much a slam dunk for the antigun mob, government and nz police and we all lost big time as its now a done deal. cheers mike

in those early pics gun is still very much in the build process, nothing been fully finished or polished, still machine tool mark on some parts tho they dont show up in pics, dosnt look much different now just been polished bit more, been fun project but a long one, spent 6 years now working on it on and off and being essentually a proto type there been lot changes made to some things over that time, some parts had be made several times to get them right, this takes time as there some pretty tricky machine jobs making some parts, allso had to make quite a few specialized tooling and jigs to machine some things, the hpa system its that complicated, but the mechanical side was bit tricky to sort out and like most revolvers these parts need be very precisely made and fitted together then timed so every thing functioned exactly in seqenece etc for gun to function reliably and as it should, truth is i could have built several good revolvers as firearms in the time spent on this pcp revolver, but no point in building any gun i cant legally own and use eh!!am pretty much over firearms these days any way,pcp airguns been my favourite small game hunting and pest shooting guns for many years now facts are that since i changed to airguns the airguns have opened up many more places i can hunt and shoot now that had previously long been closed to if using firearms,so got more places to hunt now. cheers mike

got no choice but take it easy, lost so much blood guna take while for that to get back to normal,as still bit unsteady on my feet etc,but feeling better every day,tho wont be climbing around the hills for a while i think, but gives me plenty of time to get back on the drawing board working on my 25cal lever action pcp rifle project thats my next build project, nothing particually special bout this lever action rifle its all based around well known, well used hpa/pcp technology, the only difference being it will have a full metal receiver with a lever action simialler to a winchester lever action rifle and will use an 8 shot rotary magazine i designed and have allready made, based loosely on maurader mag mechanically, have top grade custom 25cal barrel Ron Young got me from the crosman custom gun works, made by green mountain barrel works specifically for crosman custon built rifles, crosman apparently dosnt normally sell these special barrels but Ron managed to score me one a while back some how, excellent barrels and lucky to get one, like all my guns now this one will be regulated, the plan is to set it up for approx 55/65fpe using 30 plus gr pellets to give me bit more power for feral cats than the 22 guns i have. the design concept is little unusual in that the breech section will be machined as a single unit from a single piece of 1inch x 6inch alliminium plate to a simialler design of a traditional lever action rifle, the idea being a solid receiver with all the working parts inside this receiver and covered by a separate machined outer receiver cover proberly made from a suitable piece of alli box sectioned made to fit etc, this will allow me to more easily machine out the internals of the receiver from both sides where necessary, still in design stage on drawing board but well under way now and looking good, actually quite a simple desisgn as all lever does is operate bolt/cock hammer etc/mag based on maurauder design is self operating and requires no mechanical parts in gun to operate etc, this action could very easily be changed to be a pump or slide action which i may look into for another rifle eventually possibly in 30 cal, having owned several of the Korean made lever actioned rifles previosly and found them rather hard to cycle their lever actions due to the type of internal hammers with rather strong hammer springs etc i have designed my lever action to use an exposed swinging type hammer simialler to the revolver to resolve this cycling and cocking issues, this type of swinging or pivoted hammer is very easy to cock as bolt simplily cams it over ,rather than having to actually push hammer back against a strong spring, result being a very smooth cycling easy to cock action, still some design work to go yet,but getting there, more to come on this one . cheers mike

That looks to be a serious revolver. Nicely made. Wonder what it would look like photographed together with the tupara .22
Just as an aside I was in the Pataka museum the other day. There is an exhibit about local Maori. Just absolutely fantastic. There is a double shot gun there that shoots four shots, one behind the other. Think of the firepower that gave Maori. Te Rauparahas musket and the stern post of his war canoe. There craftmanship was wonderful.
