that being said,i hope others feel the same.nunga good nuff to keep up and running so we need support him by keeping it iteresting and active,or we lose the only airgun forum left in nz,and that be one hellva shame, coz face book not any where near as good as an active well informed forum on line, too much bs on face book to find anything of value ,so get behind nunga and keep our only truely airgun forum not only alive but triving, coz once gone due to lack of particifcation or interest we all lose something special

I agree Mike, especially with the current state of affairs.Interesting how forums wax and wane,I think they just have to keep their visual appeal in trend and whats new in the airgun world along with some historical content.Check out some of the latest airgun offerings at the 2019 shot show. Some pretty innovative rigs out there.

Im glad someone posted this. I had made my mind up that i would not renew the domain name or hosting due to lack of posts and interest. seems pointless to keep it going when no one posts anything. Having said that i was just about to post something in the hunting section of my latest outing Thumbs Up

Hi guys. Yea social media isn't as good, but has sucked the forums dry.
Maybe it could be used to direct some people back?
Forums retain the info that's put into them, where social media dilutes it.

I believe the guy that  owns it isn't motivated to upkeep it anymore. Especially after Chch, as he is an importer of firearms, and his priorities changed. That's my guess, and I could be wrong.

Regarding the other forum, it went down a while ago and was resurrected. But went down a second time around the time of Christchurch events.. Coincidence perhaps..

The problem with forums in general i find is access..
Everyone has a smartphone attached to the end of their nose, and unfortunately social media is the first port of call.. Forums provide better information with better searchability, but usually only accessed when killing time at work..

Social media is getting more and more pedantic, so less and less 'allowable' content, and pages / groups getting shut down all the time. perhaps there will be a drive back to forums

You ever thought of doing a rifle reviews. Or filming yourselves doing repairs. For that matter hunting video section.
When looking for air rifle info espially reviews I know i always tend to go to video first. Get the basic feel then go looking for writen info.
Are your search engine tags wide enough? Ive only had info off this site come up twice in all my searching.
Maybe offer youngs and airguns nz free advertising if they allow a small discount if contacted thru this site.
Talk more. I havent been on this site long but I was ready to call it quits a while back because it was so quiet.
Opted for the talk more approach and ask lots of questions. Now im sick of seeing my handle everywhere but it keeps it relevent.
When i first got here there were so many old posts and not much newer stuff, that i wondered if the site was active.
There is a lot of knowledge and experiance stashed away in those brain cells of a lot of you guys, throw it out there. You dont need to be asked.
Throw it up as new topic. What seems old hat common stuff you may not be for others.
Prime example is : i just got my dove tail to weaver bass for the dot scope, thinking do I put it on reciever strait or the gamo recoil reducing mount. Went back to recent post mercs had put up had a look how his was mounted.
Thats another overly long winded blurb from me.Im off to post a rather interesting thing I learnt about red dots then put the thing on. Laters

I'm new here, but when I first came across the site I also thought it was no longer active. It really surprises me that there's no more local nz content around, and it would be a shame to see this one go for sure. I own a web design service business, and I'd be more than happy to help out with the upkeeping if need be.

This forum is the oldest as far as Kiwi ones go. It has been very quiet for a while, but it is great to see things happening again, and you all sharing knowledge. Ian, aka "Nunga" has been great in keeping it going.

There is some really good info deep in the archives.

Paulo, you could get in touch with Nunga to see if he would want some help. I much prefer this to Facebook, but must admit, I wish it was a bit easier to load pics and videos. If we could get Dvlinme posting pics, I think you would all be amazed at the hidden talents we have here.
Also Ian has financed this himself. In the past members have donated to help, so maybe a litle crowd funding is an option to take off some of the burden and cementing the future of the forum?

Paul.

We should do more to keep this going, i don't use Facebook and yes there is sooooo much info in here that is awesome to dive into. Huge wealth of knowledge with the older members on here. I don't know if we could somehow advertise on the Facebook groups or nzhuntingshooting for people to come here for airgun stuff

There is a “thanks” button. I don’t know if there is a notification for it to the posted, but I click it occasionally..

I'm happy to chip in with funding. I must admit that I'd forgotten about this forum until a reminder was put on the New Zealand Air Gunners Facebook page. Most of my interest groups are either on Facebook, MeWe, or are forums that can be accessed using Tapatalk. The common factor being simple access to multiple groups via single logins.

Accessing through Tapatalk would be good - the phone browser version of this forum is not so user friendly.

Yes, that's true. I've had a look around, and I think it would be quite challenging to add new features or even make it mobile friendly in a cost-effective way, due to the tech behind it being very outdated. My best bet would be to migrate to a more modern platform and keep this forum as an archive for people to browse through, so all the useful information aren't lost.

There is a new version of this forum that is mobile friendly that i was going to install but by doing that i would lose all the custom mods i have made like the chat box and dark forum option, having said that i have been meaning to look at the mobile code and try to get the pages loading in full screen.

I could have a look at the new version and set it up on my local server and have a play.

theres been plenty of activity regarding spring and gas ram rifles etc lately but very little else, which is fine and its interesting evan to me tho havnt really these types of airguns for many years i still own one good springer and use it occassionally and have recently been considering buying either a Gamo or Crosman mag feed gas ram rifle and tho done lot research on both makes and had look at a couple its good to get feed back from those who actually using them before i decide wether to get one these rifles or buy or make another pcp rifle, you cant beat first hand experiences on things like this so having that posted is good and valuable information to have access to and unlike social media that information is allways there in archives, from the little i have seen on social media its completly diffent to a forum and lot all bout egoes not imformative infomation of any value. cheers mike

Your going to have to update some time nunga. The very nature of computors and phones dictates that. Old software stops being user friendly as things advance.
Back in the day I started building websites (pre web site builder apps) writing html and tacking in java scripts. I dought the simple html scripts that I wrote then would be enough to make what is concsidered a good funtioning site these days. Or if it would even work these days.
You have paulo.baronceli whos offered his help and im sure others on this site (not me I have no idea about where its all at these days) who you could get to help build/write bits and pieces, for you to fine tune and assemble). Just a thought.

Picked up a rifle in for service at youngs and had a quick chat about multishots, he mentioned:
Gamo - plastic housing and arms can wear - once enough wear the arms & spring come loose and it doesnt fucntion. Around $80 for a new housing when it breaks
Crosman - better as it feeds the pellet directly into the pellet, less parts that can fault, prone to wearing teeth on the magazines - $35 to replace magazine if it wears the teeth..

Upon saying that ive got a new mag for a gen2 gamo multi shot.
70 dollars from gun city.
Free to anyone who has a gamo 10x who wants a new mag for it.
Never used

$70 for a plastic mag is daylite robbery eh,when a second mag shouldve come with the rifle in first place as they cost Gamo bugger all to produce at the exobitant cost of Gamo rifles in this country it wouldnt kill the importer to include a second mag with a new rifle and would be good public realations to doso as well, hope you find a buyer for it ,

I can buy it from you. It goes with my Magnum, and I often reload at least once in long sessions, so it can come in handy.

Yep reprint the pellet feeder rod so its round and doesnt streach the bottom of the pellet. Make it a tad longer so it feeds the pellet in further, reprint any parts that could do with being sturdier sturdier and if it all works sweet, Id be keen to buy a printed
kit off you and revamp the standard mag loader.
The overall concept is great, the exacution of it not so.
