Our club has recently introduced a new format target for our regular 25 yd indoor shoots - one of several we rotate through as we see fit at the time.  I thought this might be of interest to others who also shoot benchrest as we do here.

It's called the Low Score Target, the objective being pretty obvious. It's a combination of grouping and scoring with diagrams formatted accordingly, with a total of 36 shots per card.  The concept was formulated and developed by fellow forum member Mercs and myself.

The basic rules are as follows:

Four shots per diagram, the central practice diagram to be shot first and can be substituted for any of the grouping/scoring diagrams.  Not compulsory, but you can't substitute if you don't shoot it.

The top diagrams generally follow directly after shooting the practice, scored on grouping size.  However, there is no specified sequence for these and the low score diagrams, only the practice.

The lower diagrams are inward scoring, a bull is 1, outside the rings is 10.

A shooter must decide whether or not to substitute the practice diagram for one of the others prior to handing the card in for marking.

The group scores are then averaged and multiplied by the total of the four scored diagrams to get a total.  The lowest score obviously wins.

Examples shot yesterday in .22 cal.  Sing out if any further clarification is required.
