It will work fine on a spring etc. Most greases claiming moly content have very little molybdenum disulfide in them. True moly greases e.g. Molybod GA50 are super pricey but a little goes a long way. You can use a lot less to get the lubricating effect.

If you're greasing a springer be careful not to get any forward of the piston seal as it will detonate! Tinbum tuning recommends using very little grease, other tuners use more including 'heavy tar' as it has a dampening effect and makes a springer feel less harsh.

I used a small amount of a similar product on the spring of my Webley Mark 1 pistol when I rebuilt it.

I got some Rocol dry moly paste a while back on Trademe which I used on the piston.  100g tube cost approx $80 from memory but that will out last me.

Did have a quick search on Trademe but this was no longer listed.

did find this which seems a bit pricey - though if you are maintaining a few guns is cost effective as you only need a tiny amount.

Also found this.

Even though it is called Liqui Moly, the info about the product say is contains tungsten disulphide.  However looking into this indicates that this might be a better product - see below for more info.

Daz-nz

I have a spare new tube of the Rocol Moly if you're interested.  I purchased a couple when they were cheap on Trademe but have now switched to Krytox for my springers.

Thanks for the replies guys, you've given me lots to think about, and research.
The CRC product never arrived, apparently they ran out, so gave me a refund, which is probably a good thing, as it was only upto 7% moly,  most are using 50% moly grease.
Tungsten disulphide is a product that I'll be reading more on, sounds all most to good to be true.
KiwiTR6, why did you give up on the moly and switch to Teflon? Yep, i am interested in the rocol?

The interest in a better lubricant is for the repower of my diana 350 TO5, its 22 years old now and has gone a bit dry.
Also been looking at main springs, theres lots to choose from, but vortek vs titan  seem to be the better ones

I still use moly for the barrel pivot and trigger sears, but it's very messy stuff, especially when you're pulling the gun apart multiple times because something you changed doesn't work as hoped.

I saw comments on a US forum about Krytox ptfe grease.  Mega expensive stuff, but it's super slippery, perfect for HD metal to metal contact, doesn't cause dieseling if it passes the piston seal and is relatively clean compared to moly.  There are other versions of this available but they're all in the same price bracket.  I'm retired and airguns have become a real passion for me so I don't mind spending the extra to achieve a better result.

I'll PM you later today after shooting, I also have some surplus TBT moly available.

Thats great, thanks kiwiTR6.

Have you found the teflon performs any better than moly?

--EC, thanks for the video links, tbt doesn't list a kit for a diana 350, but he does say he may make one up. Have you used a tbt kit?

I haven't been using it for long but the elimination of dieseling and relative cleanliness compared to the moly are the two main advantages in my mind.
