Some of you know i applied for my FAL earlier this year. After alot of research on what rifle to buy i needed it to fit into some goals for i wanted to achieve with it. 1, i wanted something with low to medium recoil sonmy 10yr old son could shoot 2, able to take a deer out at 500m (i have a goal to get a deer in a hard area where wind is always tricky and average shots are 300+m) 3, able to use as a long range target rifle as i hae a mate who is one of NZs top prs shooters and he has his own personal range. Final choice was 6.5prc as the calibre and then after even more research on what make and model i ended up with the Bergara b14 wilderness sierra. This gave me an adjustable comb to be able to set it up for my son to shoot. Topped up with a GPO Centuri 3-18x50 scope and A-Tech H3 suppressor First range day was last Sunday to develop a load with my prs mate who will be handloading for me. A few development loads was run and then settled on what was grouping good then with all the ballistic data i then nailed gongs at 510m and 680m. Rifle is an absolute pleasure to shoot and incredibly smooth shooting. I have been able to shoot some amazing rifles over the years including high end Sakos etc... My sons first shot he nailed a bullseye at 100m and is still grinning over it. |

All my photos are saying too large at the moment so ill upload when ive reduced them. Took the rifle for a walk this morning, had a hind at 520m but wouldnt offer me a shot then as i walked out i spotted another hind at 300m, i couldnt get any decent shooting position with chest high scrub which was probably just as well as i started photographing it and then noticed a fawn with it.   The hind at 520m  Another target spotted was a wild cat....!! And at 1000m of elevation and a good 2km from the nearest house was certainly no pet..!! |

God dam native destroy, no good pieces of $#!*. Shame ya didn't get to plant one through the cat. Thats awsome ya got ya fal,got ya gun, and are getting out there bb. Stoked you did it,and upped your game hunting ability. Totally awsome you got to get a reloader to work a custom load for the rifle. What a bonus! That rocks. Be interesting to see how it affects time on bow/crossbows. Whats the haps with air rifles, you gonna sell a few off? Maybe keep cr for starlings? Will you have time to taxidermy your own deers amongst all the others you do lol. Definitely a good move in a good direction. Hopefully the next pic is you hot,sweaty, exhausted, grinning from ear to ear with a back pack full of venison and a trophy head strapped to the top (with an orange hi vis tied to it, so no idiot sees it moving thru the bush and takes a shot at it) and a skin rolled up like a sleeping bag strapped underneath. Awsome move up. Good on ya👍 Tell ya son next time im passing through I'll challange him to a hundy meter target shoot. Me on air rifle, him on his um your 6.5. im expecting to lose but I'll give it a go. 😊 |

Haha i wish i had shot the cat but that was while waiting for that hind to make a move. If only you could have a .22lr with sub sonics on doc..... Was talking with Oliver on what air rifles to keep, the cr600, the multipump 362 and a couple of older break barrels will probably be it. Oliver was shooting a 223 out to 150m and has asked if we can get one too..... Here is my rifle

That be the underlever gamo? It's pretty accurate. Lol looks like your largest expense for guns will end up being Oliver. Be a 17hmr for rabbits/goats as soon as you introduce him to one I bet. Gun camo works a treat. Moderator sticks out big time. Some good camo painting techniques on utube. |

Not sure about the gamo, do you want it? Im going to attempt to not collect to many guns, but you cant ever have too many guns can you.....? Definitely a .223 as mentioned and maybe a shot gun but after this years attempt of duck shooting i cant be bothered hahaha. Ill keep an eye out for a 22lr bolt action |

Thanks for offer but nah. Diana,weihrauch and 1322 do for now. Be another 1322 around Feb as well. Plus telly have to do up. Thats getting to many for me. Going to be to many scopes to rember drop. Plus i find im better off using a few i like often than a heap seldom. Why you got a couple when i found guns i liked better. Don't need the dead weight. I recon you can have too many. Whats the point once you have the bases covered. If diana turns out to be as accurate as wiehrauch out too 100m I'll drop the weihrauch. No point having two guns of same cal doing same job. If not I'll keep the diana for out to 80m and weihrauch for 80m to 100+ (it constantly hitting target at 100m on still days) diana has power to drop bigger game than the hw at close range. That extra 8 fpe makes a difference. Second 1322 wont replace hunting one as its gonna be a more of van gun/knocking things out of trees and rats from a clear postion rather than dragging it into hides and bushes where they get scratched and knocked. Shotgun is a pretty useful tool. Huge variety of loads. Best all round bug out gun in my opinion. Id like one in pcp in a big bore calabar but thats a pipe dream. Don't like all the pumps and connections that go with them. Not practical for my life style and to strict rules for van storage really. Happy with me springers for small game and just enough to do that. 2 would be optimal 4 will be max once telly is done up and given away. |
