Been lurking for a while - signed up ages ago but never got round to participating.

Apparently I have a fetish for vintage air rifles , which ties in with my fetish for vintage .22 rimfire rifles.

Hi muzza. Guess you'll be in good company.
Seem to be a few collectors on site and small bore shooter s.
( Not me though )
Be keen to hear your views on a few of your vintage guns. Maybe a few pics. Always great to look back at yesteryear.
Welcome aboard.

Welcome Muzza.

I have very little experience with rimfire, although if I lived in the countryside I know I would have shot them more.

If you had some photos of your favourites, feel free to load them here, we're always keen to see.

Hi Muzza,

Welcome aboard!  Smile

If you like Vintage, you might like to ask David Hartley at Magnum Sports in Stratford to show you his Gifford air rifle!

It's a really wonderful old air rifle - 1880's I think?!

Check out the Treasure trove of airguns for sale topic in the Flubs General Discussion forum. There are some nice old rifles and pistols available in Christchurch at present.

Yeah - I know David at Magnum Sports well - we have similar interests in rifles.

My oldest airgun is a 1931 BSA Tap loader , then on through post WW2 Dianas and Milbros and Crosmans and assorted other , mostly non-break-barrel guns up to modern times pump up rifles and side levers.

And a Gat pistol cos why not?

I have already bought a Crosman 622 from the offering at Andy Mayberrys and have my eye on another couple as well.

My wife says I have a problem........

What are milbros like as air rifles. Hadn't heard of them. Did a quick search seems like they been around for a while and have quite a variety going back a fair way.

Yeah - welcome.   At least you are spending $$$ on something that should at least hold it's value - not like booze and slow horses!

Maybe your tag line should read "old enough to know better - young enough not to care"

Value ? I think the value of anything is what you - or someone else- is prepared to pay for it .
Something I paid 200 bucks for might sell next week for 50 or 500 - the value is still what someone will pay for it ,irrespective of what I may have paid.

"old enough to know better - not too concerned what others think" might be more to the truth

You are quite right - anything is only worth what  someone is willing to pay for it.  I think you will find lots of people in this forum who share your "problem"

and because I have a problem - I now also have the Gat rifle from Andy Mayberry's offering .

Might have to hide that one under the xmas tree with a "love from the labradors" card on it

How did you manage to get a  response from Andy?  I've emailed him and done an enquiry via his  web site with no response.

He is totally flat out with all the enquiries from the trademe listings. I managed to talk to him a couple of days ago.

He does takes a while to reply but seems to be a very nice guy.  He is selling around 1200 airguns from a collector's estate so he's obviously very busy.  I've just purchased a gun from him, he checked it first as some are not in great operating condition as JS mentioned earlier.  What's more, he charged me a very reasonable $20 for dealer to dealer delivery so I'm pretty impressed I'd have to say.
