Just bought a new toy...an ultrasonic cleaner.
Figured it may do a quicker/better job of pellet cleaning.
Put about 100 R10 pellets in and let it rip for 3 minutes (I used warm water with a dash of Palmolive dishwashing detergent).
I had previously washed those pellets by hand, and dried/spray lubed them already. I thought they were OK but this was a test about how good or bad my hand washing technique was.
Seems that my puny effort of washing by hand can't compare to 3 minutes in the ultrasonic machine.
I sat the pellets on a piece of Chux dishwashing cloth as it held the pellets nicely while letting any rubbish drop through to the bottom of the 'bath'.
Wow...dirty grey scum collected very quickly at the bottom of the bath area. A few wee specks of lead too.
Some of this would be from up inside the pellets where my hand wash method could not reach.
Some would be lead oxide that had formed on the outside of the pellet (I guess some of the pellets I use could have been on the dealers shelf for quite some time).
Although the pellets looked good to start with, they looked way better after the ultrasonic cleaner had given them a shake up.
That made me go and give 100 of the QYS Olympic a bath too.
As expected...they were pretty much spot on. Virtually no grey scum, and no lead specks.
I shot a target yesterday with the QYS Olympics and had a 100.4 for my effort.
So I probably won't bother with cleaning them (QYS) anymore. They seem to be OK as they are.
The ultrasonic washed R10 I have yet to trial.

A whole lot easier too.

I follow a guy in the FT world, Frank from Mamba Target. He has developed a sorting machine from what looks like a 3 D printer X Y and Z axis machine. This automatically weighs and sorts pellets into weight categories. That'll be your next piece of equipment.

I have seen that video.
But no, I am sure I won't get that involved (I'm really, really sure).
It was a neat wee gadget though.
I'll just rely on my old Hornady beam scale when I need to weigh pellets.

Haha, sounds like you are trying really hard to talk yourself out of it.

I love the use of technology though.

I don't think I shoot enough to need one.
Usually 12 - 14 shots per week. Or about 23 - 24 shots if it's a 'double target' day.
Yes, I really must get out more.
