Yesterday, whilst checking my HW95 .177 zero at 50 yds on the range, I noticed loads of Cabbage White butterflies flying across the range.  It was like snow!

They all flew low over the daises and grass from left to right, stopping intermittently for 3-5 seconds on some juicy nectar - then they'd fly up, move on, stop again for a few seconds, then fly on.... etc.

They flew between my 20yds and 70yds markers, suddenly stop and suddenly arise, in groups of two or three.

Ummmmm.... I thought!  This could be a challenge!  Smile

No time to refocus your scope, only time to lock on when they land, assess distance by eye, aim accordingly, check your hold and fire!  You have 5 seconds max!

So, with scope focus set to 40yds, I started tracking incoming Cabbage Whites and taking shots as best I could wherever they landed!  It was a hectic hour!!!

Results:
  • 4 kills - butterflies stayed dead on the daisies (at various ranges)
  • 9 wing shots - butterflies flew off erratically with holes in their wings!
  • 6 misses - butterflies flew off laughing at me!
If you have these pests doing the same on your lawns/paddocks at the moment, please take the challenge and let us know how you get on!!!!

Don't you just love air rifles?!!! LOL

Many years ago when i had my bsa metor super, was in the air rifle club and busy shoting mums pegs off the clothes line, one after the after and a way better shot than since i lost me trigger finger, i did the same thing. Three shots to get one to drop. Bit disappointed in myself went to see where i hit. All three shots had hit the wing, two taking bits off the edges and one hit through the center. I was stoked! Dont be so sure the ones that flew off laughing weren't hit.
Was at roughly 12m.
As a foot note dont shoot pegs off the clothes line.
The resaults when ya mum/missus get back arnt worth it. 😁

Haha, yea i'm guilty of shooting pegs too.

Not exactly novel, but cement board prints beautiful round holes for shooting groups. If you have one hole, then the pellet lands over it, you will have the exact outline of both pellets. Just like a Disney character running through a wall.

Hi Alister.
I should imagine a 25 cal gamo is going to take quite a bit getting use too.
Went and looked reviews as never heard of that gamo before.
Looks like the trigger adjustment screw gets replaced by a few shooters , with a slightly longer one so they can take the trigger weight down more.
Interesting gun, be keen on seeing a review and what your view of it is, when you settled into it.

So how long you had it?
What you shooting through it.?
Hows the recoil?
How are you enjoying it?
Had any other air rifles that you liked?
Welcome to the site. If your new to air rifles plenty of tips and tricks on site.
Dont be scared to ask questions even if they sound simple to you.
Knowledge It's the base of shooting.
Welcome to the slippery slope of air guns addiction 😁

It's a handful yes I've adjusted the Tigger with a new screw. The difference is amazing. With the new screw I did have a stoeger Rx10 .177 was a nice little.177 killed a few pests with it unfortunately the Tigger broke and it's in bits as I'm looking for a new Tigger for it. I'm happy with the big .25 it blows though cans filled with water nicely my back stop is a old tractor bucket works very well.

That cal brings you into close range wallaby and goats too.
There is a stoeger here.
I don't own it.
Hasn't been used since his boy got fal.
I'll ask if he wants to donate it to someone who make use of it.
No promises it may have centimental value, kids first gun and all.

Sorry sentiment and "the grandkids will be able to use it" means the stoeger will no dought stay unnoticed in the gun cabinet for the next several years, then be pulled out with dry brittle seals and stop working after a few shots.
Still memories are rekindled and that is worth more than the gun itself, i suppose.
So no go ,sorry Alister.

You could try sending an email to youngs airguns. Ask Ron if he has a spare used unit? Other wise can you put a photo up of the broken part here? Someone might be able to help.
