Well today was the day. I've moved my trusty Hatsan .25 rifle on to a young friend of mine down in Dunedin. The rifle that got me through the bordom of lock downs, shot many animals from rabbits and Hares, taken a Wallaby and Peacock for the biggest animals it's slane. Caused me some grief with some ealy foibles, then later on the vortex piston seals went, gave me a project to rebuild it and shot approximately 800 pellets during my time with it. I found a China tea cup in the garden from the kids, stuck it on a fence post which I knew was roughly 40m away from the corner of the house. My friend lined it up and polaxed it into 100s of peices. His eyes were wide and said wow that accurate! The new owner will be putting it into use for possums and Rabbits so I'll have to coax him into joining up on here to share story's about it. |

She seemed like a good that one. Definitely got me more interested in 25cal seeing your wallaby pic. Never managed to convince myself (Though I have looked at that model many times since) So my question is after all is said and done bb, is a .25 worth it? It would seem apart from the odd wallaby and goat that a .22 pellet fills the role for most pesting. Would you go 25 or 30 cal again? |

My question is not "was a .25cal worth it?" I know .25cals are fun to play with and they hit HARD... knock the snot out of anything if you hit it in the right place. My question is, was the Hatsan carnivor worth it? Would you buy another one? I too have often looked at those big break barrels with longing eyes and wondered if they are worth it. ------------- Walk quietly, but carry a big stick. |

I still have my Wesley & Scott .25 that I'm doing the gas ram conversion on.. it's almost there just need some more time spent on the lathe with some parts. As for the hatsan 125 sniper, if I hadn't had the time over lockdown to bond with it and address issues it had. Breech needed shimming made a massive difference in accuracy was one of the main problems. I probably would have given up with it quite quickly. As for .25 yes it has huge killing power but I think .22 is still the best calibre of choice. .25 in a break barrel you have to really study the pellet poi for distance to get accuracy over distance and although I did want to try the carnivore in .30 I don't think I would now. If choosing a PCP in .25 and .30, absolutely but not in a break barrel. |

Hatsan 135 Carnivore. Very heavy and kicks like a kangaroo. Not a sensible purchase. I wanted a .30 calibre so may as well have one that looks the part. I would not buy another 135 but neither would I part with this until physically unable to use it. Pictured from earlier review.  0.177, 0.20, 0,22, 0.25, 0.30 calibre  |

Mercs, that is certainly a fine looking rifle. I can completely understand your desire to own a .30cal especially one that looks nice as that one. Oh my, that is a large lump of lead! ------------- Walk quietly, but carry a big stick. |
