Well it would seem break barrel and pumper are a happy medium.
Cartridge/pcp are regulated and looks like air soft maybe monitored.

Yep - Big Brother is here!  1984 revisited!

The Police have gone overboard again. Soon they'll be warning the Petanque Circle about people wanting to train to throw grenades - or the Crochet Club about "Right Wing" people wanting to crochet camo gear - or even perhaps wanting to know what mothers are pushing in their prams.... Bombs of course!!! Smile

I thought the NZ Police were supposed to be "neutral", just there to support the elected Government and the laws they create? Their recent rant on TV news  about ACT's repeal of the new Firearms legislation and gun registry proves their bias.

This isn't the New Zealand I used to know and love....

PS: They are no doubt watching this forum! Big Brother is here ladies and gentlemen....

Why did know the first comment would have a plug for act from you. I'm sure they will be montering you big time Myson your comments will trip alarm bells. You sound rather fanatical in your comments.
You gotten so political it really lowers the tone of the forum,in my view.
This was to point out what was happening at the other end of the scale and how break barrels and pumper seem to be sitting on a sweet spot at the moment. Possibly with the connotations that it may be a good place to sit for hassel free rifle/pistol ownership instead of either full power or play rifles ( not sure if play is right word but couldn't think of correct one)

People have always been interested in reinactment and war games etc. LARPing, paintball, airsoft, even those that set up battle scene dioramas are technically practising military tactics..

Unfortunately extremists exist, and they will likely seek ways to practice 'under cover', so Airsoft will definitely attract these people as the arms are very realistic by nature and the strategy of the team sport is very 'military'. As long as clubs are operating well with the correct vetting and observation and reporting of odd behaviour..

And yes, expect that this forum is being watched, which is fine - my concern would be more if these forums werent being watched!

I would not trust the media for anything. But the issue of folks subscribing to far-right ideologies in gun clubs happens, but in my experience, is marginal / uncommon.

I am now on the committee of our club and my position is "no safe space for hate". But it may never occur. By and large we are just a normal bunch of rural folk with an interest in target and hunting.

Is airsoft the same as a paint ball gun? Powered by CO2?

All this talk about extremists and attacks… it happens all over the world. Regardless of country or race or religion or century or even millennia, there will always be people who think they are “more right”, ie better then others.

In the old days clans, villages, nations used to fight, one would loose and get wiped out, the other would win and get to live on, right or wrong. It’s been happening for millions of years.
Remember, the history of the world as we know it today, was written by the winners. (Thank goodness hitler didn’t win, history and the world would be very different today indeed!)
My point is people have been killing each other since the beginning of time, it’s the ugly side of human nature, and it’s been happening since long before firearms were ever invented.
We are just another species of animal living on this planet, but unfortunately our human nature hasn’t evolved as quickly as the civilized society’s we would all like to live in.
The old saying is very true, guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
Walk quietly, but carry a big stick.
