I think that there must have been a certain amount behaviour like this anticipated, when they reviewed laws after the pcp incident that got pcp rifles needing license.
The idiots have always been there, and it isn't the first or last time.
In a way it works for the police, this dude will probly never be able to get a fal due to this action, a potentially dangerous gun owner exposed with a non lethal gun.
The real threat as I see it is main stream media when it starts sensationalist coverage that is designed to stir up the public. That was actually a pretty low key artical.
Still it adds to statistics that may ultimately get air guns needing a fal maybe the airgun world in nz needs to start pushing for the English sub12 rule, which would create a more stable foundation for not requiring a licence to own one.
Still end of day if they were to licence them, there's still always the less lethal option of a crossbow. Lmao
That single shot need to cock it action is all that is stopping them from licencing non pcp air rifles.
