I have a couple pieces of walnut sitting around, and got inspired to build a new grip for my pcp. It's AR style, so bolt on parts, and easy to swap.

There is a guy on Youtube, Tilley Gunstocks, and he had a great idea for a jig for cutting the mount. so here's a couple of photos through the progress I thought i'd share, as it is so rewarding watching the grain come out.

I have some good maple plywood that I thought I might make a couple more, but will make them not so target style, with less palm swell.

Beautiful Paul! Well done! Smile

What tools did you use to shape that lovely piece of wood?

(I'm just teaching myself Wood Carving and I'm keen to learn such wood shaping techniques)

The bulk was removed with a flap wheel on a grinder. I also used a round file and a chisel. I think walnut is a great wood to work with, as it shapes so well.
Finish is boiled linseed with a touch of turps and polyurethane applied with wet and dry sandpaper to get a "mud" to fill pores. Then I just rub it by hand to kind of burnish it.

That looks beautiful.
I am a real sucker for a beautiful wood stock, or even just a grip 😂
