Hello,

I'm new to air rifles, have done a little .22 rifle shooting at school a long time ago. My friend inspired me to get a rifle. So after alot of research ended up buying a decent gun (springer .177). I am West Auckland based, would like to shoot targets somewhere and learn to shoot. Is there anything local for me to practice on? Howick is quite far for me.

Hi from Taranaki, I cannot help with locations to shoot in Auckland, hopefully you can find somewhere easy to get to.
I have springers from Hatsan, Crosman, Sig and Gamo avoiding the more expensive European brands.
I currently have two Tasco air rated scopes fitted to springers as I continue search for something reasonably priced that will survive for thousands of pellets not hundreds.
If comfortable to let us know what rifle you have bought and what type of shooting will be of interest.
I am reading a lot about field targets overseas and competitions in NZ should be starting up again.

cheers

Hi Mercs. I bought a weihrauch, shoots very nice. Been having some fun with the family shooting targets in the back yard. The local bird population has disappeared since they've seen me shooting. Would like to try out shooting 40m+. Hopefully can get in some rabbit shooting sometime.
