Not really a review but an interest piece
This is a Diana Model 50 T01. Underlever tap loader in .177, it was manufactured in March 1982 so over 40yrs old.
This particular rifle was produced for the German and is limited to 7fpe
When I got it it was shooting at just over 6fpe with Crosman Premier Lite 7.9gn
I have just had it serviced by Ron Young, he stripped it, lubed the spring and lubed the original leather piston washer and put it back together.
It is now shooting 7.2fpe with the Premier Lites.
I shot it today at 10m and zeroed it with open sights. Hit the 1in spinner every time from the bench but my 70yr old eyes and open sights are not compatible.
A very accurate rifle and very well made
Ron said he had never seen one before when I took it in to him and said it is rare in NZ

And before anyone suggests a new spring etc, Ron says no matter what spring you put in it it won't shoot over 7fpe, it would need a different piston to increase the power. My research has indicated that the export model was capable of 12fpe

It's a nice looking gun.
I'd keep it original.
Enjoy it for what it is.
So what's it shoot like?

Have no intention of modifying it, hoping it might find its way into a collection

The trigger is ok for its vintage, long 1st stage and then a creepy let off, haven't bothered adjusting the trigger
Very mild recoil consistent with its low power
Have only shot it at 10 & 17m, did have a scope mounted and it was a tack driver
Has accounted for a few Starlings and Mynas

Hey Ralph,
Hows the D50 doing?
Hopefully shes still connecting with mynas and starlings?
Would love to see some more pics of her.
