also, hi my name is kerry. I was an abided Air gun shooter about 30 years ago, and took a club trophy, 10 meter, with my bsa super meteor back in my youth. I always loved air rifle shooting, both target and hunting. After years of inactivity I decided to start doing something I love again. I was immediately taken by the sport as soon as I got a gun 3weeks ago. passion reborn. (despite my issues with this gun) my primary objective is small game for food, but to achieve this use a the target shooting disaplines, and technics for pellet sizing and selection. Ive been target shooting every day the wind is not to high (which has become a lesson in futility with the way the gamo has started shooting.) I did a bit of close range hunting stalking up to 20 meters with tthe gamo till its accuracy deteriated to an extent I'm not comfortable to shoot game with it. but I that intermediate time I ate rabbit, hare, quail, pigeon (non native) and sighted up half a dozen pheasant hens, but the farm owner only allows cocks to be shot. I'm fully addicted again. glad to be in contact with other air gun shooters. fully bummed out don't have licence to get pcp. totally. loving how the springer guns have advanced and looking forward to stepping back into the scene(as a beginner in a new age)
like to say hi to everyone and pleased to get any advice or points of view on your perspective of air gunning these day.

Welcome

I've not tried one of the auto-loading break barrels so I can't say much about your specific problem, other than agreeing with mercs about returning it for refund/repair/replacement.

I see that the auto loaded pellets are not loaded deep enough (compared to your hand loaded ones), the breech block can catch the back edge of the pellet like your gamo destroyer photo.

have been in contact with distributor and they offered to take the gun for inspection. I advised I had removed the mag (so probly voided the warrenty) and isolated a reciever screw that kept coming loose. fixed the screw with thread tape (till get to town for lock tight) said it was pretty obvious from pics that mag was faulty. they offered to send new mag system but I refused and thanked them for their offer.
it shoots accurate to 25 meters and that's fine by me. I came to the conclusion that I'd take accurate shooting over convenience.in my view the streaching of the pellet is a pressure thing and a design flaw. I didn't like how it limited my scope choice either. I in no way state that it is a bad system and many people have great results with it. I didn't,faulty products happen with mass prediction, but turns out I'm happy with a single shot. I'm looking at better guns at moment (the gamo was just a step back into air rifles.) I'm hoping that thru my post "build me the ultimate springer" that I may even be able to gleen enough info to build what I think would be a great gun. your dead right about the seating and I asked if they sold adjustable pellet seater but they didn't. the big take away I've had from all this is deal with air gun specialists. I've been in contact with young who have recommend two gun and scope combinations that might suit. both have match triggers which is great. so for now improve stalking. don't shoot over 25meters and have fun with what I have. cheers for the reply xyon. I appreciate that ppl are willing to take the time to help. awsome

Single shot .177 Gamo Black Fusion. 15-17ft/lbs (something of a scope buster)
This will deal to all pests on farm, best use with open sights.
I use a heavier pellet at .67 gramme to knock the edge off it.
I have also tried the 1 gramme .177 Gamo G-Buffalo pellets trying to temper this unit and they do surprisingly well.
I would prefer the .22 option.

I have the Gamo rocket destroyer pellets in .177 and .22 and they work well just a bit pricey and I am not sure that the possums notice the difference.

cheers

Nice.it probly would. have been a better choice for me instead of the fusion. I actually use the rocket destroy on hares. it shoots so close to the the field target trophy that the fusion has decided it likes that it's not an issue to carry to a few in separate padded can. I have to get new battery for my vernier, I find the ftt seem to have a larger veration of head size per same tin and I like to sort my hunting pellets. rockets seem more consistent from the tin/plastic container I've used. I'll confirm that when get battery. the third pellet that fired well was is the Javelin hunter spear tip at 15.74 grain.(gun City brand, but made by h&n) shoots a lot lower but tight groups. have you done work to your gamo or was fine as was? I've just weighted my fusion with a heap of used pellets from the target pellet trap as I've found it a very light gun. test it tomorrow. cheers for the info great to get info on a rifle that is being used effectively by a actual shooter 😊

Well that rocks. threw heap lead in the bottom half of pistol grip in the fusion (probly more than needed) put an epoxy resin cap on top. it pulled the balance back and kept the weight low. the unexpected effect was that in order to counter the affect of more pronuced barrel lift on firing I needed to wrap my thumb over the top and pull the rifle into my shoulder with a with more pressure than an artillery hold. basically not an artillery hold! it so much better to shoot. Still need to keep the grip the same everytime. finally getting groups I'm happy with. back to hunting yippee.

footnote: I've also sized and weighted my pellets and stripped it down and cleaned and relubed the piston, lock tight on threads that mount the stock to firing mechanism. It is the weighting that has improved the grip.(in my view)
I would advise anyone who may want to try it to not seal the weight in till you have tried it and are happy with it.
