I have been looking for any spring break barrel .22 air pistols with no luck this far, however I have an option for purchasing a Crosman 2240 and after reading up the specifications and reviews I noticed it has a plastic breech with options to upgrade to a steel breech, which most say is not necessary unless you want to take the first step for better performance. Was wondering if the plastic breech might be an issue?

To all the Crosman enthusiasts out there who own a 2240 could you give me your opinions and reviews on this and any issues you might have. I am actually considering this against my better judgement. None of the reviews I have read have nothing but good things to say about the 2240 but I would appreciate any honest opinions before I decide to take the plunge.

You won't go wrong. They really are a great little pistol. If you go for the 2250 B, you will get a carbine version with the skeleton stock.
Either way, very accurate, lots of fun. I used mine for shooting pigeons. Absolutely perfect. If you plan to mount a scope on it, I would recommend the steel breech, much sturdier.

Sounds like a bargain, I would probably install a steel breech at a later stage. I am assuming Ron would carry all the necessary bits and pieces. How long does a co2 canister last you?

I sold mine a month ago, but from memory about 25 - 30 good shots. If it's really cold you get less due to the way CO2 is. The good thing about them is you can shoot them how they are, but then modify them if you decide to.
There's a crosman forum that has heaps of info, or there's mintie, he knows heaps about them too.

Did you end up buying it? Pm me if you want to know anything about them. In general the plastic breech is fine but if you want to start modding or if you want a decent way to mount optics the steel breech is the way to go.
