My used Cyclone has very worn rubber on the synthetic stock.
I'd love a wooden stock but that's likely not an economically sensible solution. I guess a bit of acetone will take the old inserts off. Anyone got a great idea for what to put in place of the worn out rubbery stuff? Refer photo of my small collection with old faithful Meteor and Crosman and Gamo pistols absent. The Diana now has an older Hawk on it as well so that makes three and so maybe I should shoot some hawks. The Diana, bought unseen from an auction, appears to have had little use but I had to replace the cocking linkage and lever which are commonly bent by trying to close the breech without disengaging the rachet. The HW80 is showing the surface rust and the stock looks much better than it actually is but it should clean up well and deserves some attention for sure then I can tidy it up and try the second 177 barrel on it to make all three 177s. I've only used the .22 barrel on the HW. The FX is amazingly easy to shoot straight and I think could make anyone look good but what it does do is show up how I sure need some practice and likely a skill upgrade to shoot the springers. You guys are helping me learn so chers for that people. But the FX really needs that stock spruced up... be there's something that would work and look sharper than another bit of plain rubbery stuff.... |

I think you will find it's called EVA foam. Might bhe able to get some from Para rubber, or you could look at the self adhesive section in Bunnings. I once got a hardy rubber with adhesive backing. It was a common thing with the cyclones. The one I had did it fairly quickly, and so did others.

Mark, do some you tube searches, you won’t be the first cyclone owner who’s trying to refurbish the stock 👍🏻

It's called Croc grip at Bunnings. Hopefully link works, but search grip tape

Thanks Pauly - that stuffs a step tread grip - wrong link I guess but i found what I know you were suggesting - a very similar fibreglass reinforced EVA which will do the trick nicely.
In fact it looks pretty much like what was used in the first place given the glass reinforing is showing through. And I've ordered some - cheers for that! |
