Sweet. Tell him next time I'm down he can give me a few pointers on shooting.
What you end up doing to the gun, what ammo. |

Good to be back. While the wife was out thinking I was working on the gardens we are building I put a red dot on the air chief shortened the stock by 2 inches and a quick sight in my son is plinking away at a bottle at 12m and hitting it every time.

Haven't done much, but I want to pull it apart again as there's a lot of resistance when cocking it. I am weary of what is rubbing.

Good to know your still alive and kicking bb.
Nesting season, breding season guess that CO2 rifle be out soon. Though you could use the air chief and just scare them lol |

The green mamba is standing in a corner at the moment.
I need to change the scope (I dont trust the second hand killwell I got from Youngs) and try it again. I havent even gotten around to taking it apart and fiddeling with it, which was the original intention! I had it shooting fairly well a little while ago, when everyone else was in the middle of cutting and grinding and polishing all their internals, and when they were all put back together there didnt seem to be that much of an improvement across the group... hummm ![]() But I'll take mine apart anyway because I need the experiance. One thing thats worrying me is I dont have a spring clamp. Might have to make do with some ratchet straps or something.

What's happened to all of the guns that were purchased for this project? It's gone mighty quiet ![]() I've gone as far as I can with current thinking - I was hoping that others out there might have some new ideas that I could incorporate! Perhaps an update from each owner?

The red dot is mounted on the dovetail these days with a picatinny adapter to give it a bit of height. The breech snaps closed super smoothly and positively thanks to a good application of my 'special' oil! ![]() ![]() |

Yep I'm pretty impressed with that.
Nice work. Do you have the red dot mounted to dove tail mountings or the barrel where open sights were. |

Had another play tonight. No luck with the QJS, they're fractional smaller in skirt diameter and don't sit snug in the barrel as the JSBs do. They tend to lean one way or the other with a gap on one side. The pic shows 12 shots in total, 2 were flyers part way through so I carried on until I had a group of 10. The same group size as last night so I'm pretty happy. ![]() |

A good result last night using 4.52 JSB Exacts straight out of the tin (not selected for size this time) following initial testing of the QYS pellets I'd just received. I'd stripped and checked the gun a week or more ago and been happy with the condition of everything other than the loose trigger adjuster and the retaining washer for the piston seal (see pic). What that pic shows is that the washer wasn't sitting square to the piston face and this was because the countersunk hole I'd machined was off-centre. What the pic doesn't show is the head of the retaining screw/bolt being flush with the outer edge of the washer. I had mentioned earlier before pulling the gun down again that it felt quite harsh when fired and I now think the screw head was the cause. I corrected the countersink and fitted a different retaining screw with a lower head and after reassembly, the gun felt a lot better to use. So, after shooting that nice group last night I'm trying to figure out what's changed other than the trigger fix and going back to the red dot sight? The offset washer and the screw! ![]() ![]() |

Right you guys I'm back. Been horrificly bussy at work and with the wife and kids away for the holidays was working almost around the clock!
Got off work early but before I left Ive cut a couple of shims to try and level the barrel and will get a scope back on and run some sh*t during the weekend since is supposed to be sh*t weather. |
