Hey Nunga you seem to be up on it with air gun building. I'm currently considering the idea of changing the the whole valve set up in the 1322 to a steel body (not piston). This would have to be machined of course.
My theory behind this is if I go to a steel body for the valve set up, along with all the other alterations you can do to increase volume and flow, I can actually have much thinner walls than ally hence increasing the amount of air in can compress into the valve.
So under the assumption your more into your metal work than me, is it feasible idea? Could the right metal decrease the wall thickness by a large enough margin ( I know from diving that the walls on ally tanks are way thicker than steel and steel tanks hold more air) if so, what would you recommend as a metal for this? I'm thinking a low corsive metal as if I use a anti rust primer I think I'll have issues with seals reacting.though I could coat it with moly on out side and the pelgun oil should keep the inside sweet.
As I say, just an idea at the moment.
Does it sound feasible?

yeah that could work, you might want to have a look at gas struts they have a thin steel wall, not sure on the size you are looking at but a gas strut and see if that might fit? they are designed to take very high pressures

and i mean using the body of the strut rather than machining up something from scratch

I realise that. Still have to have a certain amount of machine work and bronzing done to it as they need a wall between the compressed air and channel that the valve sits in to release it into the chamber.
Though Im thinking once the divider wall is in, it would allow the channel that air flows from compressed air to barrel to be made as insert and slid into the end of the tube then wielded/bronzed shut. That in itself would make make customising the channels a very easy affair. At the moment the option for getting rid of the right angle turn is a dremel through where the brass port that goes between cylinder and barrel is. It's quite limiting on how much refinement you can do and pretty awkward from the looks of it. Probly wouldn't hurt to put a flat top piston in it too, so as to eleviate the need for a angled wall between compression chamber and piston.
As I say just tossing around an idea, so if you or anyone else has any ideas fire away with them. Even if they seem impractical... Could throw me into a new tangent that comes up with a better system.
