Can't see the point in getting to complicated on trigger for this gun.
A simple stop for trigger seems enough for me. Another idea I had, but won't be doing due to lack of tools, was to bore a small hole into the breech block, to the bottom left or right of the barrel. Thread the top so a small cap with center drilled out could be screwed over the top of a spring and ball bearing put into the hole, and a shallow receiving hole on other side for the bearing to lock into. Barrel lock. In theory would hold barrel in same place when closed. |

Thanks frog, I'm really not that talented. I sit at a desk all day so this sort of stuff is my way of de-stressing

Righto, Ive got the barrel refitted, modified the original breech seal and got it lined up perfectly horizontal.
Have shimmed breech to remove the lateral movement. I need to make another breech pivot bolt but it's fitted together ok in the meantime to put it back together tomorrow to retest it at 10m. Fingers crossed....... |

Sourced some O-rings today from the local engineer and turned up a nylon spacer to bring the O-ring out about 0.5mm beyond the breech. I then fastened it to the spacer with some E6000 glue and closed the breech while it set. The breech now closes completely and when I put the barrel in the vice and applied pressure to the cylinder there was no play at all. The barrel and cylinder aren't concentric with several degrees of difference between the centreline of each. I'm not going to try and correct this though as now that the breech is solid a scope adjusted to suit should work fine (I assume?). I also had time to cut a groove in the piston to take a PTFE ring rather than the buttons I was planning to fit. The piston body was too flexible to grip in the 4-jaw so I held it by the centre shaft and centralised it with my dial gauge as best I could. The thing squealed like a pig as the parting tool chattered away trying to cut the groove but I got there eventually. Not pretty, but it should work. Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to make the ring then it can be assembled, although I want to to crown the barrel before I test it again. |

Gun is temporarily back together, I have taken slightly too much off the breech so the barrel is slightly upwards but is fixable. Definitely shooting much smoother.
My son came out (8yrs old) and decided right there and then to have a go. Got him on the cr600 and 3rd shot in was right on the bullseye at 10m. I think the air chief will become his first gun once I've finished with it |
