I just took my Faber 12L dive bottle over to a shop and got them to re-cert it. I see they in turn sent it to Wormald, Mahia Rd, Manurewa, which is just a hop, skip and jump away from me (ok, a large hop, skip and jump) but a lot less distance than to the shop I took it to. I was wondering if I could just take it straight Wormald or do they deal only with shops and business...

Somewhere along the way some clot put some scratches, albeit very small ones, on the bottle, from the time I dropped it off to when I picked it back up yesterday. When I dropped it off it was in the same brand new condition as the day I bought it, then the tester marks on the test paper "minor scratches". It doesn't really matter to me and it's not life or death, but I was a bit p*ssed of when I picked it up and immediately saw these marks. I touched them up with yellow paint, the exact same colour (by co-incidence) as the bottles natural colour, and I dare anyone to even see where they "were", because they aint there no more...

I was just hoping to partially eliminate one costly $55 link in the chain by taking it directly to Wormald next year. Has anyone either done this or know if they will accept it? I know I should have phoned them today but I plain forgot...

Wormald? I thought they only did Fire Extinguishers?

Have you tried Tank Test Laboratories. 26 Glasgow Avenue Manukau. Ph: (09) 277 4360
They can test up to 10,000 PSI and they have a jig setup for dive tanks.

I dive steel tanks and last time I got a test they stamped the top and painted the patch with grey primer and gave it back......
I hate when I pay good money to have my stuff screwed with.
Nobody seemed to worried when I complained.

It's all fun and games and then somebody looses an eye.

I sent one off at local dive shop in uk and it failed the test, over here they keep the bottle and you loose them.
(Bit of a scam i think as it was as new)
What happends in Nz if they fail a test ?
killing is as easy as breathing
