Finally, after quite a few false starts, I have some semi-decent results to show along with a pic of the gun in its current and now final form.  I won't bother with any more mods as I'm getting reasonable groups - I just need a bit more practice.  I did machine up a floating end cap out of some acrylic rod sitting on two rubber docking rings but it made things slightly worse and was horrible to cock.  So I've ended up fitting a short piece of silicon tube pushed over the original front sight cap retaining ribs.  It's mainly for looks and cocking, but it may also be damping out some vibration.

The groups below were all shot at 10 metres with selected JSB Exact pellets in the head diameter range of 4.42 - 4.44 mm.  I was standing using the triangulated arms/rigid hold method (link below), with my front hand resting on a padded tripod.  I'll spend a bit more time with pellet selection and do some more shooting to see if I can improve on these results. My next project gun has arrived so I'll start playing with that Big smile

So popped the red dot off the 362 and put the rail and sight on the $100 enigma just in the dove tail.
Now here's the annoying bit. I could hit the wood rather consistently under the target. About a Foot under top of target.
If I aimed the appropriate distance higher to hit center of target missed.
Adjusted the sites missed.
Over about 30 shots hit the target 0 yep 0 times at ten meters.
Went back to open sight and everything hit the target in a wide group.
Seriously considering putting a pin through the breech. To lock it in same place every time.
Either that or tidy up some of makeshift ideas into actual parts.

It would seem the air chief target junior, has its history from the shanghai 61.
Heres a Vid. It's pretty slow.
Not sure what they called thier new version but same unmistakable gun.

So doing research on correcting barrel droop. Which seems to be shimming scope.
But thus answer might just be the most practical. Lmao.

Well that was interesting. This group at 10m air chief target pellets.
The low shot was strait after having done a ten shot group with exact heavy. (which was rubbish)
So not surprised.
The next 7 were slow deliberate well aimed shots.
The two to the side are the same but back sight was starting to get blurry, was having difficulty with point of aim. Though I'm not sure that was the cause.
Hole in center was to let light for bulls through as woolshed is a bit dark for open sight.
Probly the best cluster I've had so far.
Thing changed was a from a shanghai 61 thread, rest the barrel on the shooting bag.
I shot 4 targets all had tighter clusters than usual. Other being between 1.5 to inches approx. Still rubbish but getting closer to understanding the guns idiosyncrasies before do anything major to it.

That's a good group Kruza, better than I was able to manage pre-mods - and you've done it with open sights!  The tip re resting the barrel on the bag sounds like a good one so I'll give it a go tonight.

What I'm really hanging out for though are the Qiang Yuan pellets - I'm hoping they're really as good as the overseas reports say they are.  Interestingly, Shooting Stuff have some of their wadcutter competition pellets available currently and they're listed as either 4.50 or 4.49mm head size.  So goodness knows what the JSB numbers refer to....
