Well thats a great shopping list indeed! I have heard the Diana is a heavy beast, but the HW80 is a great gun for hunting. I dont get to do a lot of hunting, but have a .22 Theoben Sirocco in the safe should such an occasion arrise

D52 is indeed heavy and a bit fiddly to cock but it fits me like glove. In fact I won a competition with .22 beating .177 TX , HWs and Pro-sports. I love it -Inder

Short stroked my Prosport and with an O’ring seal running at 11.2 ft/lb .177 jsb 10.3 head shots on Rabbits
Just as dead as with a .22. Accuracy is what I want and short stroking has improved this gun. |

Hi Stuart,
Excuse my ignorance, but what is short stroking? Pete. |

Hello Pete.
Have a read of this site, it explains it better than myself but I have done similar modification on my Prosport and has improved the firing cycle and increased accuracy. Piston extension resulting in Less swept volume of the piston giving marginally quicker piston time, not a faster piston just shorter time, not increased power just better feel when that shot is taken. Definitely recommend these modifications. Go on site below. https://nbroadsman.me.uk/index.php/air-rifles/air-arms-tx200-hc-tuning |

It more or less just makes the piston longer and it doesnt travel as far when the gun is fired. this cuts down the vibrations when the piston hits the end of the cylinder and the spring does not have as much load on it. But it doesnt generate the same amount of power because you lose the air volume which is taken up by the longer piston inside the cylinder.

They call that swept volume.
Tony Leech in the UK has a FB page dedicated to it.

Spring has less load due to steel top hat replaced with Nylatron one with shorter shoulder length resulting in less weight which could have an effect on piston speed, spring pre load could be increased but nice how it is.
Lots of variables in a springer for sure. Just nice to improve things from a gun that had swept volume mainly designed for plus 12ft/lb when adding stronger spring for UKs overseas markets and UK had weaker spring for home market but still with the long stroke. The internals of the gun I’m on about is for TX200mk3 and later Prosport not the TX200mk2 Sorry should have seen the main post was for the TX200 MKII Edited by Stuart - 01 Aug 2023 at 1:01pm |
