It more or less just makes the piston longer and it doesnt travel as far when the gun is fired. this cuts down the vibrations when the piston hits the end of the cylinder and the spring does not have as much load on it. But it doesnt generate the same amount of power because you lose the air volume which is taken up by the longer piston inside the cylinder.

Spring has less load due to steel top hat replaced with Nylatron one with shorter shoulder length resulting in less weight which could have an effect on piston speed, spring pre load could be increased but nice how it is.
Lots of variables in a springer for sure. Just nice to improve things from a gun that had swept volume mainly designed for plus 12ft/lb when adding stronger spring for UKs overseas markets and UK had weaker spring for home market but still with the long stroke.
The internals of the gun I’m on about is for TX200mk3 and later Prosport not the TX200mk2
