Hi Kruza,
Did u ever find and try some plastic creepy crawlys? Did u manage to get the attention of some mynas and starlings, and more importantly, did u manage to fool any of them long enough to get in a shot? 😉 |

Tryed a few kids toys ones. Weren't that realistic in colour. Not bab in form. Tryed most realistic even adding on eye dots and suspending some of flying ones of thin nylon line so there was movement to catch the birds eye.
Total flop. Don't know if softer more realistic ones would work but they arn't easy to find. Real worms in jar weren't successful either. Pears on the pear tree were a constant draw and proved a good few weeks of success. |

Well it was a good idea and worth a try 👍🏻
All birds have exceptionally good eye sight and would be hard to fool with fake food, but on the other hand that’s what makes them easy to attract when you put out real food 👍🏻 Bit of useless info here, but did u know they used to use pigeons excellent eye sight to find people lost at sea? They would train the pigeon by feeding it crushed corn, and the pigeon would get used to eating small pieces of yellow and orange food. Then when someone was lost at sea they would take the pigeon up high in a helicopter with a glass panel in the floor and the pigeon in a cage. Flying very high they can cover huge areas of open sea, but from that height a human eye won’t be able see a life raft or a life jacket. Life jackets and life rafts are usually yellow or orange. When the pigeon started tapping on the glass it had seen some “food” and they’d go down and investigate. |
