I have an older BSA hornet pcp. The one with the micro cocking mechanism. The valve stem sealing end has worn, causing a leak, so I made a new one out of delrin. It has reduced the leak, and I wonder if I didn't get the seat angle right. Does anyone know what the angle is by any chance? I know it's a long shot. Mike it will be the same as in the lonestar, but I don't expect you to strip your gun to look.

No Rush, I just work on it when I get to it. Once the tank is empty, it screws off the valve body, unscrew the brass stem retaining cap and the valve stem comes out. Takes about 2 minutes fortunately.

I took it out last night and used a new, sharp box cutter blade to carefully scrape the edge of the delrin. It seems to have made an improvement so far. Makes sense that any small fillament could cause a leak on the sealing edge.

dosnt take much to break the seal on a valve, the tiniest bit dirt will do it and if that dirt becomes embeded in the poppet seat the leak will slowly get worse over time as the embeded dirt will damage the actual metal valve seat as well,i have found tiny bits of metal embeded in poppets that some how got left in valve when gun was made,in one case this completly destroyed metal valve seat beyond repair, this metal had to have come from some where and as only brass used in gun was the valve i believe it had some how been left in valve during manufacture as it turned out to be tiny piece of machining swaf.gun involved was a maurder rifle so can happen eh.
sounds like you may need new poppet mate, give Ron a call he proberly got one mate.
 cheers mike

I had turned one up on my little baby lathe, which is why I was checking the angle. Keen to make my own, and feel good about it.

Hi Mike, yep arrived yesterday. I sent you a photo on your email.

It's great, looks really good, and a gain in power. I'm making a silencer for it next. Getting 8.3 ft/lb
Have sent pm.
