I was doing a rat job at a house this week, and came across an old Telly Rellum in the ceiling. I gave the lady $20 and she was happy for me to take it. So I though I will give it a little tickle up.
It was running hot at 2.7 fpe (.177)

Things wrong with it,
Surface rust, stuffed piston seal, missing a stock screw and the barrel was bent.

I didn't realize the barrel was bent until I got it home, but oh well, I will give it a crack and it is only destined for plinking cans anyway, so long as the pellet comes out straight, i'm happy.

I rubbed it down with WD40 and a bit of 3M pad, and was surprised how well that worked. I'm in the process of reblueing it with some cold reblue I have. It won't be perfect, but I will learn.

For the seal, I turned up a male and female press mould for shaping the leather. Pictures show the old seal in two bits, but I'm pleased how the new one turned out. What oil should I soak it in? I have read petroleum for low powered airguns. I have motor oil, or 3 in 1? Any suggestions?

Here's the mould with the formed leather seal sitting in it.

3 n 1 oil mate, you can get leather washers from water pump suppliers that you maybe lucky and find some that will work, they easy nuf to make with a simple cake cutter type die made from approprate sized pipe with steel punch made to fit using vice for a press mate, good find tho hope works out .
