I spend a lot of time out and about fishing, kayaking and camping and some of the areas I go to hold good numbers of bunnies, which, in good, nick are a fine eating animal.
Given the ranges are probably only out to 70-80 metres, is there such a thing as a good cheap range finder? I was thinking even a golfers unit would suffice, given the short distances.

I have one of those golfers range finders. I can tell you that the one i have stays in the draw. I measured out 40 meters then used the golf range finder and it came back with 65 meters. so i put it back in the draw where i found it and havent gotten it back out since

I use one. All targets for sighting are done off the range finder. There was 3m difference between that and when i got a scope with a range finder at 80m.
Didnt matter a bit, because I sighted the gun to the range finder I use. As long as its constantly out doesn't matter. Doesn't have great pinpointing in bush or around trees as it seems to pick up on a broader area than a hunting range finder. Works fine in fields. Also can use it to range an object, like a tree trunk next to near the critter, up a bit higher to get distance approx. But i guess you can do that off mildots too. Golf range finders aren't the best but they work. This is a cheap model compared to what golf range finders go upto. If your mot going splash out for an expensive range finder, buy the golf one. Its been totally worth it for me. |
