As most of you guys know i have had problem after problem with my scope moving so this week i decided to see if i can fix this once and for all. I did get a set of adjustable mounts but they didnt look up to the job and i thought they might move more than what it is moving now. so what to do? I was Talking to Brian at the last shoot and he said i should try lapping the mounts because these cheaper mounts sometimes are not very round. I decided to take his advice but also i will take it to the next level.

So this is what i have done. I machined up a bit of alloy bar to exactly 29.00mm. I have some 120 grit emery tape which i attached to the bar with some double sided tape. the emery tape is half a mill thick so this will give me the 30.00mm needed to sand the mounts

I am using shims at the back of my T50 scope and this is causing the scope to move because the shims are half a mil thick and the scope is not sitting flat on the mounts. So what i decided to do was pack the back of my alloy bar up so it is half a mill thicker than the front and when i am sanding it will sand the mounts on the right angle for the scope to sit flat on the mounts...do you follow me?

So the bar is higher at the back and i packed it up with the same thickness as the packers in using on the scope. but i do not use emery tape for the back mount yet. i only want the front mount to be sanded. this will cut the right angle that i need for the scope to sit flat. once the front mount is sanded in all the way and is at the angle i need i swap the it around so now the back mount will be sanded and not the front. This gives me two mounts sanded on a angle so when i put my scope back on with the half mill packers the scope will be sitting flat on the mounts and should get rid of the scope creep.

Not that I know much, but what material are the Packers? What if you used something like self actuating tape that will mold to what's needed and grip at the same time. Looks like you have it sorted though.

The packers are plastic so they dont compress when you do the bolts up  like the those tapes do.
