My first legitimate try. This could become an enjoyable habit.
(I have taken photo twice, once with backlight, one without.)
Distance 5.7 m from front foot. Two handed unsupported, 5 shots per target. Daisy 717 Score 35 + 35 = 70 ![]() |

The UK group runs this monthly - you can submit up to 4 targets for each category every month. Persoanlly I'm keen on a monthly challenge - not sure if I would submit more than one target or shoot in more than one category but would be keen to put up something each month. Again, it all comes back to what works for the most people.
If you have more than one pistol, I don't see why you cant put a a score for each gun. I beleive it comes down to getting some of these guns out and using them - and trying to improve. Of course - this is coming from someone who is retired and thus has more free time than many of you. I did try a cut 'n paste of the weekly update from the UK but it didn't work very well as none of the tables showing the scores came through. If we did go to a monthly comp we would probably be better off starting a new forum post each month - possibly in the target shooting, rather than the general forum? Don't think we have enough members - so possibly just one score table for everyone. Quite keen to see some scores from some of the custom pistols out there. At this stage I suggest we keep it open to any one with any type of "pistol". Once we have a idea of what you all find intersting/challenging we can fine tune things a bit. Maybe "springer" PCP and CO2? Maybe a "quick draw" for any cow boys or cow girls out there - may need a diferent target for this? Anyway - just get out there and get your targets in! Nice one Pauly, page 3 table updated but you have been a touch hard on the target scores.
Please note I have suggested inward scoring where if the line is cut then that ring applies. I would score your top diagram as 7,8,8,8,8 with a sub total of 39. Bottom diagram 3,6,9,9,9 so a 36 by my method. Kruza adjudication is required. ![]() ![]() Edited by mercs - 18 hours 20 minutes ago at 8:40pm |

Oh no thats not happening.
Gawd im not gonna say whats, what. But id sujest that if a score is in debate you either get close ups of the shot or run it through one of those scoring apps. A comp shooter would be a better judge. |

I wasn't too sure and it made me think, should we have a scoring convention of sorts. I wondered if a couple were higher, but wasn't interested in trying to get the best score so didn't take the benefit from the doubt.
Happy to go with mercs method if everyone else is? If a line is cut, then score the inner ring. If we score a 10 by taking out the centre and not touching the line, is that a 10.1 or do we just keep it a 10? |

If your target shooting and not consistently putting the pellet in 10 or just nicking the 10.
Why would you get rewarded with a an extra point one because one happened to fluke a perfect shot. Why is that worth more than a pellet that takes out dead center but maybe to the side a bit and cuts the ring. To me thats just glamourising effort. But then again I look at shots as effect in the kill zone from intended poi. |

I would say that in competitive target shooting the point is that if you can place it perfectly in the centre then you get rewarded.
Doesn't worry me either way.

Hi Pauly, updated page 3 table to reflect inward scoring used at Taranaki Club.
We do not generally use the 10x scoring being discussed but several of the pre-charge and springer users are well capable of multiple "inners".
To differentiate the top end shooters small bore targets have a small dot in the centre circle. Often called 10x scoring where the dot is completely eliminated helps indicate the .22 calibre shot was fully inside the inner ring then an additional 0.1 is added. From Target Shooting NZ marking booklet Inner circle The smallest circle is called the inner circle.
• It is used when testing with a flange gauge to
determine an inner.
• A shot hole completely within the centre circle
is called an inner.
• This is recorded as .1 |

Aargh... the old touching line or cutting line debate.
Been going on since for ever in archery. Personally I think touching a line gets the lower score, cutting through the line (into the next ring) gets the higher score. As for the 10.1, I understand the reasoning behind it, and at top level competition, the need for it to differentiate between the best of the best, but speaking just for my self, I dont think its warranted at this level and would just complicate things. PS - been trying to stay out of this thread, but now that I've piped up I guess I'm going to have to go find my self a pistol now... |

A 10 is a 10, is a 10!
I think no need for the .1 for our situation. We certainly don't want to make a deal of this and ruin our fun. It's just good to know there are fellow air gunners around the country telling their wives they are just popping out to the garage to unite and participate in a nationwide activity.
