First this will be asking about gamo and Hatson multi break air rifles.
So if your a going to say gamo are crap shyt build and quality. Go away this thread isn't for you.
I own a hw97, had a tx, had a sigasp20, this conversation doesn't need your negativity.

Despite all the negative stuff around gamo there are are still passable models with good accuracy.
Plenty people on web shooting good close range groups.
my questions to multi shot springer users.

What gun do you recommend and why?

What is the best trigger system

Is it gas ram or spring

What plastic is in the shooting system
Is the reloader well made? Does it damage pellets?

Have you done any work to it and how much did it improve?

If its a magnum have you tried slugs through it.

What is the maximum distance you could hold 1 inch group and a two inch group at fully rested.

What technique has worked
best for accuracy of hold.
My gamo roadstar didn't like the artillery at all and took a while to find out as all you ever hear is you need artillery hold to be accurate.

Id also be interested in hearing any opion on the hastan multishot if youve shot one, and anyone who has shot both brands what you find best.

I was thinking of getting the aa ultimate springer but have decided to give a multishot another go.
Having a great rifle isn't the be all and end for a hunting rifle for me

Speed of reload sux, i can walk 30m while reloading and that sux.
I can watch critters stop and buy time got pellet reloaded they are on move again.
Weight like tx and 97 is horrific for extended night shoots when walking the farm.

These flash scopes ive had with ao and huge zoom arnt any great advantage unless your holed up or taking super long range shots. For busting bunnies, possums, birds within the range of a air gun its serious over kill in my view

I'm more than happy with holdover and find it way quicker.
So any scope recommendations would be appreciated..illuminated reticle and mildots would be nice.
4x or 6x, set focal no zoom is ideal.

So fire away keen to learn take tips and advice about tricks and trades, model pros, cons

To all you gamo shooters out there who don't say much cause this forum can be at times full of brand snobs who blanket rubbish a make in genral, or feel the need to add thier view in a comment just to rubbish someones gun.

It takes more skill to learn and shoot a lower quality gun like a gamo, accurately than a gun that is made to higher quality.
You could shoot my hw fine, id have to get use to the gamo.

hmmm.. often the slating isnt snobbery (sure it sometimes is), but can be based on experience - ive seen club members never return as they couldnt get the rifle to perform so thats actually interest in the sport actively lost. But wont go into that here.

In my view there are better multishot systems than the gamo one. I think the crosman magfire system may be better than the gamo based on how it presents to the barrel - its more sturdy.
The multishot carrier etc on the gamo is prone to failure if there is a little wear (which its plastic so there will be some wear and tear).

For me, on a break barrel dont buy one that has a plastic breech block - plastic does stretch, and even if it doesnt, it goes brittle over the years.

Gas ram is usually smoother to shoot, and the spring versions are generally twangy without further tuning work.

Id give Youngs airguns a call, he gets them all to fix so can steer you in a direction to whats most reliable

I've owned four Gamos now and still own an early magnum.  It is is a beautifully made gun, equal to the top end consumer guns available currently.  I bought it from GC as one of a pair of faulty units they regularly sell for $1 reserve on Trademe. The other three were rubbish and the plastic breach they use these days is just very poor engineering - it's never going to produce a consistent lock of the barrel.

I made the following point not so long ago.  Poorly made guns such as the Gamo, Stoeger and others (although the Gamo is the predominant brand on most retailers shelves - as an ex retailer I assume this is because of higher margins from the importer) is bad for our sport as Jono says.  I don't have any numbers, but personally I was about to throw away any involvement with airguns after my first Gamo and it was only through a weird circumstance that I got into it as deeply as I have after purchasing a second one that was equally as bad.  After having bought and sold many poor performing air rifles over the last two years or so, I'm now a advocate for the higher end brands.

That said they can have their faults, especially with QC as you will find out in my next post about my new HW98.

Sorry about the rant Kruza, but despite what you say this brand does not help our sport grow and the next time I go into a H&F or GC store I will be telling the staff that if they encouraged customers into a better product initially, they would be more likely to have a customer for life.  The crap guns that go into the closet when the owner gives up in frustration eventually end up back on the market only to do exactly the same damage again (potentially) to its next owner.

My reviews are already available.
I have had eight Gamos, these three have some merit:
2012 .22 CFX under lever which is a cracker, converted to gas ram and trigger has been refined. (14ft/lb)
2019 .25 Shadow gas ram break barrel, mid-power so CAT2 trigger is reasonable. (15ft/lb)
2019 .22 Black Knight gas ram, unusually reliable and CAT2 trigger is better than others. (20 ft/lb)

When they were $350 - $500 they were a fun purchase well below the cost of a Weihrauch or Diana.
Many Gamo models are now close to or over $1000 and there are better brands in that price range.

Quite simply they should be 1/2 the retail price and post Christmas you pick up the disappointments.
Even at 1/2 price they need to improve the quality of internals and further improve the trigger assembly.

My second airgun was a Gamo whisper with a gas ram. It ate scopes until I got a half decent nikko on it. But I did enjoy it until I sold it to buy my first HW97k.

I put so many pellets through it and my muscle memory got so tuned in to it. I could get 10 mm groups at 20 m with, but I didn't know about groups then, but would pick out flies and letters on cans. The trigger wasn't too bad.

Never had experience with multishot springers apart from sighting in one for someone. Seemed to work well, but felt you had to be deliberate and measured with the cocking action, as it felt weakly engineered and with plastic present I would have been weary of it over time.

My feeling is that they are over powered for how they are built, but that's what people want, light and powerful.

The Cometa Fenix is a gun that always gets a mention, and one I would try.

Re scopes, if you do get a powerful springer you will be limited to scopes that can handle the recoil. I always used Nikkos on my springers, they seemed to go ok apart from on that first Gamo I had.

So if it was me, i'd probably be looking for an older springer with "patina" in the right places showing it was used as a hunting gun, which hopefully means it was acurate.

Cheers js ill have a look at crosman. I wasnt aware they made a multishot.

Tr6 myy 1322 is probley a worse build than most gamos. Still love it. While your at it have a bleat about all the useless pellets too.😁

Cheers mercs I'll look at two of those. The barrel fixed barrel is out. I agree with price verses quality, it will be a second hand rifle.

I think pauly that is the crux of it. You learn your rifle. Im still not impressed with the gamo i had but there was potential there as a short range gun. The magnums maybe over powered but ill probley get a spring kit for what ever i get and adjust then.
I was pretty disappointed
With the spring set up in the hw97. Its crap compared to the tbt kit i got. No slip washer, no bottom nylon spring guide.
Ive seen gamo diagrams that include these parts on models.
