I would get a 2250 and put grips on it for the conversion. Makes it a longer pistol, but more power with longer barrel.
I have some figures on my pistol build if you look at the thread.

Increasing velocity almost always helps the accuracy until you get to a point, normally around 950fps where it can destabilize depending on the pellet design.

What you do with a 22xx really depends on what you want from it, they are very versatile! The longer 2250 barrel helps with a bit more power on CO2 but detracts from its compact pistol looks, an HPA conversion as a pistol can be done with the 2240 barrel for good power and a small tidy tube design still keeps it looking like a pistol.

I have heaps of bits in a draw for PCP conversions and multi shot breaches etc, I should really get back into a 22xx build some time.

Accuracy - some very basic work on the trigger will reward with information and kits readily available.

Power - tuning  instructions exist for CO2 which will give measurable improvements.

If prepared to purchase in bulk quite reasonable prices can be found for the 12g CO2 capsules (<$2 each)

I prefer CO2 powered with a red dot out to 25 yards and will expect to hit a 1 inch plinking target.
Pistol or carbine with steel breech and red dot will be 5-$600 new
Crosman Pistol ($300-$350) Steel Breech with probe and bolt ($120) Red Dot or scope ($120)

Pistol scope with long eye relief original mounts

Rifle scope steel breech
